last film you watched!

The Purge

It was pretty boring, one of my favorite reviewers said that it was a fun (but bad) movie with a crowd in a theater, so I might have enjoyed it a bit in that kind of setting. So many of the actions of the people were annoying and the attempt at being scary on the part of the attackers ended up being funny.

Now You See Me

Good movie. I remember seeing the preview when I went to another movie, and it looked really cool, but I never got the chance to watch it until now when my dad borrowed the DVD from the library. I really enjoyed it. The magic and tricks were pretty awesome, though I thought it got a bit muddy towards the end. I had to rewatch it a few more times in order to full understand it all.

Brokeback Mountain

I have seen this movie a while back, and I'm already going to have to say it's the best gay romance film I have ever seen.

I just watched this movie as well, it had SO much potential to be a good movie. The son was the most annoying piece of crap there, ugh.

Yeah, that kid was really frustrating, but I thought most of the characters were sillly. I couldn't take any of the "moral questions" that seriously because of so many of the scenes in the film.

Anyway..

Absence

I was really surprised, I liked this a lot more than I would have thought as I usually don't get into found footage horror that much, but I got sucked into this one. It had a good build up and the characters really worked for me, they had believable chemistry and the scares were well done, with the exception of the two that were in the trailer that I saw (blargh, especially the last one which spoils the film) since I knew when they were coming.

Gravity (dir. Alfonso Cuaron; Starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney).

It was a visually stunning film. Highly recommended (must be watched in 3D or IMAX for the full experience, though).

Lucky, I need to see that one...

What is it about? The preview is kind of not helpful to knowing what it's about. Is it just like they're floating in space and they have an accident because of gravity or something? XD

I literally just got done watching this movie, MUST be watched in 3D. Such an intense movie! Sandra Bullock looked amazing in it.

The Manchurian Candidate

No political leaning for me, but I loved this movie as much as any other great politically-themed film such as JFK, Frost/Nixon, All the President's Men, or Z.

i watched an anime movie called Colorful

it was pretty sad to me ;-;
kinda slow but it was good

Legend, last night...love the fantasy films and this is one of my fav. along with Labyrinth, The Dark Crystal, etc.

Maniac (remake)

Was really interesting, I've never seen the original. The acting of Wood was quite strange sometimes, I'm not entirely sure what the director's ideas were with his performance, at times it almost seemed like a fantasy. The POV shoot of the entire film was so interesting to watch though, and the music was incredible. Definitely decent for a horror, and nice to see Wood out of his usual roles.

& Aura: Maryuuinkouga Saigo no Tatakai

I didn't really know much about this before I watched it, so I was pleasantly surprised. I felt it's a much better take on the "chuunibyou" syndrome than chu2koi. The ending was so pleasing and brought a few tears out of me. I didn't expect where it was going at any time, and the development was great. I would say it only felt a bit rushed sometimes.

It's sad that I have to wrack my brain to remember the last movie I watched, it's been that long. I think it was Gangster Squad, which was ok. And before that was The Pianist, a much much much better movie.

A Nightmare on Elm Street

The original version. This is my first time seeing it (no joke), and I actually really like it.

A Nightmare on Elm Street is one of my favorite horror movies, and Freddy is my favorite horror villain of all time. He is just so creative as a character, and honestly although the movies are campy, I find the idea of him to be terrifying.

Come Out and Play

Had no idea it was a remake, but apparently it's shot-for-shot. It was pretty boring for a horror, and had almost no tension. Especially the lead characters kept making the most idiotic choices. Who leaves their pregnant wife alone in a creepy little town over and over and over? And goes to an island with only enough gas to get there? I mean really.. one of my lowest scores I've given in a long time.

The Facility

The same problem as the above, there just wasn't enough tension. I like the idea and that it was inspired from an incident in the UK, but there was not really any build or attachment to the characters. The movie started with "this is what happened in those two weeks" leading the viewer to think a certain way, which kept being brought up in my mind as the movie progressed. It just wasn't well put-together.
