Pokémon legit dittos question?

I thought Pok?mon in the wilds scale to the level you are currently at? Unless you beat the main game. You can also catch lower level dittos in raids if they are low star.

I don't think I've found a ditto in the stony wilderness area unless that is a den kind of by the daycare.
This den spawns Ditto in the Stony Wilderness but surely it would say it was from a Pokemon den, so not sure if they're real...

well after beating the maingame, i used a wishing piece on one of the stony wilderness dens and it turned out to be a ditto raid/den. i caught the 5 star level 56 ditto and it says the same thing: "met on [date caught] and it was in the stony wilderness..."
both the ditto i caught and the ones pictured above are 4iv, but im just wondering if dittos can be caught around level 40+?

Yup! They can be caught around 40+ it just depends on whether or not the user who caught it finished the game or not. It's happened to me before where I didn't get all my gym badges/ didn't finish the game since I would raid with friends instead and my pokemon I caught would be lower than my friend's since I only had like 3 badges at the time haha.
The only ones you really need to worry about not being legit are the 6IV Shiny Dittos. It's like near impossible to get a 6IV Shiny Ditto, so majority are hacked for those. :3
