Leif is coming back!

I totally guessed this! In a previous post I made I said I think the next update will bring Leif and possibly bushes and other gardening items. My theory was that by around that time, non tt-ers would have unlocked and messed with terraforming and be ready to landscape. I even said it would be cool if he came on Earth Day. Imo I feel as though nintendo will make it so they stay. I dont see them adding and removing content every month; just adding in the holidays and events as they come c:
So for the first year we cant TT to the events but I'm assuming the 2nd year itll be less restricted?

Ah okie!! That's what I was thinking: that it would just be a first year thing :> I'm very unfamiliar with playing games with this kind of design (if theres even anything that existed like this before) so I wasnt sure

Hopefully this will ease everyone's concerns over other NPCs.

The problem is some people are acting like "if I haven't seen it yet, then it doesn't exist." The NPCs they specifically showed for updates in the Direct did not include Leif.

There are certain things about this game that I think are fair to complain about. But something "not existing" is weird to me, when we simply don't have access to everything yet. They are intentionally slowly rolling out some of the game/features via updates.

A: for a second there, I thought there was going to be no more region-specific events... then I remembered Japan's Greenery Day used to be around the same time as Earth Day until 2007 (it's in DnM+ as one of the useless model events) so I'm thinking there might be something to do with Children's Day for Japan as well in this new update?

B: Interesting they also mention new features as well? No idea what they're actually going to be at the moment. Could be another Nook store upgrade, could be the datamined museum update.

C: I honestly think we're going to get regular, end of monthly updates on the thing. Which is kind of exciting!

maybe it's my deepseated abandonment issues but i can't get excited over an npc appearing for a single day. if we get a new npc move in with their own store/building/etc. every month, or something like that, would be over the moon. the barren island is in desperate need of actual places to visit besides the two tiny shops that we have, outside of the museum which is obviously a huge step in the right direction but doesn't have much to do outside of observing

Really excited for this! Not for Leif specifically, but that this could imply that Nintendo might actually release roughly monthly updates for this game, just like they did for Splatoon 2 (same dev team).

i'm very excited for this! whether he's here just for an event, or permanently.. it's what a lot of us thought when it came to constant updates introducing new events or things in the game.

I think it will just be to give out weeding day type furniture.

If he was back pernanently, in an Emporium style upgrade, I might reconsider getting this.

Golden Tools would need to be unbreakable though.

I do hope that the Nook's Cranny expand to have his shop again with bushes and other planting options such as the exotic fruits.

And if Earth Day works like Weeding Day, I might have to start farming weeds from islands and plant them all over my town. My town is weed-free...

I assume he's not a permanent character and only here for the event? Either way I hope he does sell bushes and other fruit.

It seemed kinda vague to me.

"The next major update to Animal Crossing: New Horizons is coming in Late April bringing the Earth Day event... alongside the return of Leif!"

It didn't exactly say he was exclusive to this event. So either he's the "mascot" for Earth day....or the update just happens to have him added to New Horizons as a vendor/shop.

Or it could be both I guess.

I'd like if Earth Day was like a "plant flowers/trees" day. I tend to slack when it comes to planting flowers so I probably need the encouragement from Leif.
