Unfortunately the one they patched was a different one. If you check out the link, it details the situation currently!
I would be willing to take the risk if I hadn't ended up giving at least two people a glitched villager last night. ) :

One person came to get Francine, and somehow ended up with Bruce's house that's now constantly locked. And my friend ha Genji's house locked up; he registers on her island, but never comes out and she can't go in and see him. It turns out he's in her void perpetually right now, because he might have moved into another friend's island and done the same to her.

So it's kind of even worse than the previous glitch.

hey there, i have sprocket in my town. he’s not ready to move but tbh i’m not trying to trade any villagers atm like others have said ^ i’m waiting for a new patch that’ll fix the glitch. i currently have a glitched plot on my island rn and i don’t wanna somehow make it worse or give you a glitched villager. but i can let you know once he moves if you haven’t already found him by then :~)
