Hey Sean, I use your Tier system constantly and think it's really great! But I've never really read this thread. So I'm curious about your methods to determine popularity (if you stated it elsewhere, just link me!) but it seems like you just browse TBT and get a ball-park idea of popularity that way adding in your opinion and observations of others. I always assumed that you used a simple computer script to sum the occurrences of villager names in TBT posts with their selling price. Have you considered doing something like that?

NOTE: I do NOT base a villager's popularity solely on worth! I base it on how often I see them in signatures, in LF posts, how often they're taken in cycling threads/giveaways, and also auctions! Do not think that because a villager may not always have the best auction result, that it means they should drop a few places!

I do not use computer scripts, I go by my own sightings (as well as what others tell me.. The more I get poked about a villager (by different people, NOT the same person), the more obvious it must be that that villager needs to change places.

I have never planned to use computer scripts, because it is not anything I'm familiar with, and I don't honestly plan to get myself into that.

I make simple graphics, and I edit videos together for YouTube, as well as simple computer skills.. That's as far as I go, and I don't plan to go further

I've read your first post several times now but I interpreted "I base it on how often I see them in signatures" to mean "I wrote my script to base it off how often it sees...".

I'm just bummed since I thought you had a more objective standpoint and I just now realized how much bias there is in the list. I think a poll would be the best way to figure out popularity and that wouldn't require any scripting skills. Just give each TBT member the chance to rank their top ten and assign point values like that. Or I'll just do it. If all the time I spent on this forum went in to learning how to write that script, I'm sure I'd be done in no time haha

With respect, the popularity list has been going since November of last year, and has received very little criticism.

While my methods may appear biased, I think the majority of the users here are comfortable with the fact I know what I'm doing, I know my way around the forum, and I'm certainly not biased.

As well as this, I would prefer not to change the format of the thread unless absolutely necessary. I have to put in quite a lot of work to keep up the weekly updates (as well as editing the picture) and people don't seem to quite realise that.

While your ideas are sound and I appreciate them, I'm open to criticism, but as most people are comfortable with the way my methods are, I don't think this thread needs a format change.

There are gonna be some test moves with Tier One this week, please be aware that these may not stay.. But there is so much activity with the top 7 in Tier One atm, that they need to switch around slightly, but it's difficult to place them, so bare with me on this

Lolly has been moved down from number 3 of Tier One, to number 4.

Diana has been moved up from number 5 of Tier One, to number 3.

Stitches has been moved up from number 6 of Tier One, to number 5.

Fang has been moved up from number 9 of Tier One, to number 8.

Whitney has been moved down from number 12 of Tier One, to number 15.

Bam has been moved down from number 15 of Tier One, to number 2 of Tier Two.

Molly has been moved up from number 2 of Tier Two, to number 12 of Tier One.

Lucky has been moved down from number 4 of Tier Two, to number 8.

Octavian has been moved up from number 20 of Tier Two, to number 15.

Colton has been moved down from number 11 of Tier Three, to number 18.

Apple has been moved down from number 18 of Tier Three, to number 29.

Apollo has been moved up from number 19 of Tier Three, to number 1.

Ren?e has been moved down from number 20 of Tier Four, to number 28.

Again, I know there were a lot of changes at the top of the list this week that may have you wanting to scream, but I wanna see where things go.. I think these changes are suitable, but with how competitive the top slots in Tier One are atm, I needed to do some switching.. As I said, please bare with me.

We had some big rises this week though, Molly jumping a lot of places into Tier One, and Apollo jumping half a tier.. As always, please feel free to discuss changes and suggest look-outs for next week!

Although I also agree that Chrissy isn't quite ready for tier 1. Coco and Tangy have surpassed Bruce and Tia to me. I never see Tia and I only see Bruce when there is an all deer town signature

Yeah, I realized the Bruce thing right after I posted it. Regardless, I still see quite a few people with Coco in their dreamie lists. Coco has always done well in her auctions though. Regardless. Tia should move down to me. I do see Tangy in some lists.
