Update

There is a major reshuffle of Tier One and Two this week.. It'll be a little confusing, but I'll try my best to keep it clear!

Stitches has been moved down from number 1 of Tier One, to number 4.

Marshal has been moved up from number 2 of Tier One, to number 1.

Merengue has been moved down from number 3 of Tier One, to number 5.

Ankha has been moved up from number 5 of Tier One, to number 3.

Beau has been moved down from number 6 of Tier One, to number 13.

Diana has been moved up from number 8 of Tier One, to number 2.

Whitney has been moved up from number 15 of Tier One, to number 12.

Phew. Too much Tier One this week :p .. Moving on..

Bam has been moved down from number 1 of Tier Two, to number 5.

Zucker has been moved down from number 3 of Tier Two, to number 10.

Phoebe has been moved down from number 7 of Tier Two, to number 14.

Tia has been moved up from number 8 of Tier Two, to number 4.

Lucky has been moved up from number 9 of Tier Two, to number 2.

Bruce has been moved down from number 11 of Tier Two, to number 17.

Punchy has been moved up from number 13 of Tier Two, to number 9.

Apollo has been moved up from number 23 of Tier Two, to number 12.

Lopez and Bunnie have swapped places, with Lopez moving down from number 29 of Tier Two to number 8 of Tier Three, and Bunnie moving up to number 29 of Tier Two.

Tangy has been moved down from number 30 of Tier Two, to number 1 of Tier Three.

Ruby has been moved up from number 11 of Tier Three, to number 30 of Tier Two.

Felicity has been moved up from number 23 of Tier Three, to number 12.

Jacques and Apple have swapped places with Jacques moving down from number 29 of Tier Three to number 4 of Tier Four, and Apple moving up to claim the number 29 spot of Tier Three.

And breathe.

Please feel free to discuss the (many) changes this week, and suggest movements for next week!

Tia up? I think that it's unnecessary to move her up, I haven't seen a lot of offers/sigs with her ;v; with bunnie too, what I have seen is some Lily's

Oh sorry, I was originally gonna move Fuchsia down, until I realised Jacques was still in Tier Three, I'll change that..

And look, I dunno if you've got some sort of vendetta against Tia, but I keep seeing her recently, and she's been all over the looking for thread.

Lily however has been nowhere.. While Bunnie was one of the most sought after villagers this week in the LF thread.

Here I was worried that Lolly and Rosie would drop this week. :)

Not relaxing just yet, even though I'm currently seeing a couple of threads for Lolly...

Beau definitely shouldn't have dropped. People have been going just as crazy for him as they have for Diana.

Question for Hound00med:

Since you have been presenting these lists, which villagers have had the experience of ranking [No. 1] overall (even if only for a single week)?

I've been here since last November; but, I have not always paid attention to this "List of Villagers Based on Popularity" thread. (The only ones I recall are Marshal, Merengue, and Stitches.)

I did a tally of every single villager that was posted in the LF thread this week. That has added to my research, and allowed me to ease my looking for signatures.

Beau was only looked for 3 times, as opposed to Diana's almost 20 times.

Beau definitely needed to drop.

pietro should be higher o:

I did consider putting him up, but I gave it a miss this week, we'll see how he performs next week

These are the only villagers who have been at number 1.

Marshal was at number 1 solidly for all that time until I made the controversial decision to drop him down to number 2 for Merengue.

Ever since, Marshal and Merengue have been trading places, except for Merengue's current dip, which paved the way for Stitches to rise, and then Marshal to reclaim the throne.

Thanks for getting back with answering, Hound00med!

I imagine, had you began presenting the listings sooner, the one villager who would have definitely hit the No. 1 spot would have been Julian. I don't know if I would say that about any other villager. (I'm in the U.S. So, I'm thinking from Summer 2013 going forward.)

There’s also other factors that go into people posting “LF” threads when they know villagers go for a ton of money. I know when I was looking for Stitches and Marshal or Julian I wouldn’t even think of posting a “LF” message on forums or Reddit because I know I’d be dreaming if I thought I’d get them for a reasonable price. I know if I openly asked for those 3 everyone would come back wanting the 30-50M I didn’t have. People are more likely to ask for villagers they know they won’t have to pay 30-50M bells for. I personally only bought Diana for 2M and an Afternoon tea set.

I think more people would still want Stiches or Julian or other popular villagers if given the option. If I walk into a top end clothing store I still “Want” the $10,000 suit more, but I don’t have that money so I’m only going to say I’m looking for the $1,000 one…….

I agree, I didn't post a LF when I was looking for Ankha, someone here just happened to be looking for a modest amount of bells for her and I ended up only paying 3 mil and the ice set.

I reckon the LF posts are better useful for people looking for lower tier villagers, I can find the really popular villagers like Beau a few times a day on this forum so why bother making a LF post? I actively looked for Beau on my friend's behalf for maybe a day or two and I found him quite easily whereas lower tier villagers I like such as Hopper and Filbert literally take more time to find. Money isn't usually an issue for me either, people overcharge on TBT.

I also would like to ask why are there almost 2/3s of all villagers possible dumped in tier 5? A lot of them are still rather popular, like Chester, Aurora, Biskit, Blaire and Cube and I personally think that more focus should go to them rather than having us debate on who should be number 1, 2, 3, etc. It's all the same anyway and well established that they're super popular.

Rosie was in camp, and I can 95% confirm she looks like a tomato.

I just feel bad for cute teir 2 and below villagers that get no love.

Do you guys forget that I look at signatures for this popularity list too? Beau has crashed, and the LF post only backs that up.

And I'd like to point out that with the exception of Melba (who will likely move up next week), all the villagers who were looked for the most were Tier One.

Diana was posted almost 20 times, Marshal about 18.. The list goes on.. People post in the LF thread if they're actively looking for who they want. Typically, they don't post all their dreamies at once 'cos they can't get them all at once.

While I browse the LF thread and auctions, I check signatures too (as well as the AC:NL section), and then, with their value, I then judge their popularity and make the moves.

And I hate to say it, but regardless of what your own opinion is, typically, more people care more about Tier One and Two than they do about Five. They will care about their own villagers they like from the lower tiers, but the higher ones are the ones that keep people talking, or else they wouldn't be popular.
