I'm seeing a lot of people are talking about a live action Cowboy series for Netflix. I just saw a youtube person record himself reading a variety article saying it would be ten episodes, and the director of the original is going to be a mere consultant. I have concerns.

I don't think I should link the video due to the youtube person being involved in unrelated shenanigans I don't want to get into here.

I am honestly not looking forward to it. I will watch... but I DOUBT anything will live up to the expectations set by the anime.
Honestly, it kind of sucks when they try to mess with classics like that.
I feel like it could go badly in 2 main ways:
1. It tries to go "sci-fi thriller" and loses the heart of the characters
2. The cast/acting is not up to par and the story loses its punchy-ness

Either way, I don't want to judge it too harshly... but I didn't like Death Note AT ALL and I didn't even bother with Bleach on Netflix because of the wigs and everything.

I also would prefer all asian cast... but probably gonna whitewash the whole thing anyways.

Yeah, I heard about this before. Not really on my watch list to be honest. I just don?t really care for live action series or live action movies of animated stuff. Hopefully it?s not too bad...

Once I see a trailer I'll likely have my final decision.
I never was too big on Bebop so that's probably why I'm not more considerate of it.

Very hard pass. Here in the United States, Hollywood has shown time and again that they are completely, 100% incapable of taking an anime and bringing it to live-action. All anybody is going to do is ruin what is, essentially my all-time favorite anime series. I don't have a subscription to Netflix, but even if I did I would NEVER willingly watch a live-action Cowboy Bebop.

I've not seen, or heard many good things about Netflix's Deathnote, or the separate Ghost in the shell movie. I did see someone review Ghost in the Shell a while ago, they did point that they changed the ending, which alters the entire meaning of the film. I'll just post the review. Do I need a language warning?

Netflix never does well with their live action.
The only one I've really enjoyed was erased, but thats granted its one of my favourite animes of all time.

They'll need a huge budget for the live action, and if they dont, itll look tacky. I dont personally enjoy cowboy bepop but i mean, maybe itll be cool? Im prolly gonna pass on watching it

Did we learn NOTHING from live action Death Note????

I heard about this the other day and it's just an absolutely terrible idea. It would be nice if we could leave things alone, but apparently everything needs to be remade for a quick buck. I'm pretty doubtful that they'll get Yoko Kanno and her band, Seatbelts, or any of the other musicians who were involved in the original series' soundtrack to score this thing and will probably substitute them with some generic American musicians, though unless it defies absolutely all of our negative expectations then that is probably a good thing after all.

Though, as terrible of an idea as this is, I'm not sure which is a worse idea to try to bring to live action: this or the One Piece live-action series they announced alongside it. Regardless, the fact that either of these ideas made it out of even the most basic stages of conceptualization and scrutiny is unfortunate.

No thank you. The anime is fantastic. No need for a crappy live action.

Well said. I didn't see anything about live action One Piece. That would require a lot of cg.

Apparently not...

I don't understand why everything needs a live action version these days. I mean, if they
would be good at least, but most of the time, they are just pure trash (the only live action
version that looks not bad right now it the Detective Pikachu movie, if that counts...).

Things are leaking. People are saying at least the first episode is just taking scenes from the movie and the episode that introduces Faye, then adding more swearing just to be edgy.

I haven't seen any trailers or anything for it, but I'm willing to give it a chance. It could be good.
