One of my personal fears is that due to the success of pocket camp, the new animal crossing will inherit many of its features. And while pocket camp is a good mobile game, it?s not what a main series entry should be. I?d like opinions and why.
Sorry if I'm blind, but where did they confirm that AC Switch is a mainline game? That'd be some good news. Because to me it looked like a new Happy Home Designer of sorts.
if i'm not wrong, they confirmed it's going to be a main series game. i believe that some minor features, such as the appearances of beppe, carlo, and giovanni will be present, but i don't think it'll be much like it at all. it is possible that you could connect your pocket camp account to your switch town though.
Ugh! I hate what they did with lets go evee/pikachu with connecting the mobile version. I really hope they don't do the same with AC.

Well, considering the left overs that were in the data, NL’s update was supposed to connect to PC, but never happened, and besides, the mobile part in Let’s go Pickachu/eevee is optional, it’s not necessary to play PokemonGO
I don't think the original poster is worried about it not being a main series game. It's pretty much common knowledge that it's going to be a main series entry. What I think is concerning is whether they will try putting Pocket Camp features into a main series game, to such an extent that it stops feeling like a main series game. Since PC is a game that heavily revolves around microtransactions, this is something that could potentially go horribly wrong. I honestly wouldn't put it past Nintendo to try putting Leaf Tickets into a main series game, since they saw how much money they made from PC.
Despite my concerns, I'm still cautiously optimistic. After all, Pocket Camp is a "free" mobile game that requires microtransactions to make money. Main series AC makes its money on purchase. Hopefully it stays that way, because Animal Crossing is exactly the kind of game that can be milked until completely dead. It happened to The Sims, and it can happen here.

I don't think they would add microtransaction to a paid game. Especially since Nintendo's games retail for 80$ + taxes in Canada. WIth that being said, I fully expect the game to connect to the train wreck, microtransaction heavy poor excuse of a game that is Pocket Camp.
