It's been a while since the last Splatfest was in said game and ever since then I lost my motivation to continue playing the game. After the Splatfest ended, I still played in Ranked mode and in Turf War for a while, however, playing both wasn't as fun as it use to be. Not sure if only I have that feeling or these issues, but I often had to deal with either losing a whole bunch of matches in a row or ending up in teams that preferred to squidbagging and not playing proper. In general, I had the feeling that the Splatoon community kinda changed, most people acted as if Splatoon 2 is ended and not worth playing it anymore since there will be no more Splatfests, hence of why maybe not everyone playing serious anymore?

Anyway, because of this and also the fact that I already completed both the main story as well as the Octo Expansion story and have nothing to do anymore, I stopped playing Splatoon 2. It's been now a few months since the last time I played it and honestly, I don't really miss it. Not
sure if I will ever pick it up again, as I found other game like TloZ Breath of the Wild which is really fun to play with. I may get back to Splatoon if they ever gonna release a third title of it.

Anyone else here who also kinda lost the interest in playing Splatoon 2 and feeling the same way?

Ever since I started playing my interest hasn’t really died down tbh. I’m still on almost every day butttt I think it’s only because I’m constantly playing with friends so it’s really fun. I met a lot of really great friends through splatoon discord servers and there’s always things to do or people to play with, usually super casual. Usually we play Salmon Run, league or Private battles. I don’t really play matches on my own unless I’m doing solo ranked. I play a lot of other games too currently but if someone pings me to play I’m happy to switch over back to splatoon. I think the only game at the moment that would really tear me away from splatoon is animal crossing new horizons.

I only play Salmon Run if I like the weapon shift, but otherwise, I'd rather play other games tbh. I stopped playing Turf/Rank ages ago and I've already beaten the Octo Expansion. I didn't bother to finish the SP though xD

I love salmon run, but they make it not available for certain days, it did it for the whole weekend + Monday and because of that I played other games, though i need to go back and play the octo expansion.

I played one time after the Final Fest. I haven’t exactly lost interest in it, I still plan on trying to get all modes to rank X, but I get discouraged when the XP bar cracks/breaks. I feel those cracks... And they hurt. Lol

But yeah, I’ll definitely be getting back into Splatoon 2, just been catching up on other games.

I have been playing Splatoon since Splatoon 1 and yeah, I'm definitely geeling very burnt out with Splatoon 2. I still love it as a game, but I don't play very much anymore. I think the last time I played was in the final fest, and even before then I hadn't played in months. I'm enjoying other games at the moment so I don't really plan on going back to it. However, I have a tendency to get re-addicted to games, so there's a good chance of that happening for me with Splatoon 2.

Back then during launch, you only get SR every 2-3 days. Now, there's 6 hour break in between shifts so that's probably a bit better. I don't mind having it like ranked/turf where it changes instantly though

It's definitely discouraging and incredibly frustrating to climb up to X. I've played on competitive teams since January 2016 (starting with Splat 1) so I've been at it for a long time trying to improve. With Splat 1, I got stuck in B rank for the longest time. I finally climbed out and getting to S was eventually easy, at least in Rainmaker. With Splat 2, I had to play each mode individually in order to rank up in each one. In Clam Blitz it was a major struggle just getting to S, and I never thought I would make it past that. But I can say that as of today, I am X rank in all modes and I've been able to keep that for about a year so far, I believe. Being on teams really helped me, I learned a lot about everything about the game from strategies to gear comps. My point with this is that I definitely know how tough it is to climb up the ranks, but try not to give up! <3 If you ever want to play or something, feel free to hmu.

Congrats :D I’m rank A in Clam Blitz because it was rarely on when I was able to play. It’s probably the most tactical mode, so I can see myself taking a while to get it to X. I’m too stubborn to give up, lol. It’s definitely gonna happen.

When you play with friends on ranked do they stay on your team the entire time? Because if you join a friend’s game in Turf War the team you’re on is random.

Thank you!! :D Clam Blitz definitely takes a lot of coordination and strategy. I tend to use weapons with bubbles (like kensa splat roller) to help guard me as I push in, that way it's a little easier to do it without the help of all of my team. A rank is really good for CB, especially considering you were rarely on for it. I'm so sure you can get there though :D

Yeah, you're always on the same team in league. The thing is that you don't gain or lose any rank while in league, so you have to play solo ranked. League is a great way to practice though, if you're considering it.

I picked up the game a day after the last splatfest. Man I felt like I missed out. Was the game much different on release then post splat-fest?

Coordinating with your team in solo is kinda hard when all you have to communicate is ?This way? and ?Booyah? lol.
It?ll probably be beneficial to practice a bit in league before hopping in solo ranked, to familiarize myself with the best routes to take depending on the mode.

Okay I'm going to give a really long answer but tl;dr it was mostly the same, but with a lot less content.
As someone who played the first game, Splat 2 kinda felt like a worse version of 1 at release? They added a few new weapons like the dualies, but MANY weapons from the first game were removed, and it took several months for all of them to get added back in. There were only 7 stages iirc, and 2 of them were returning from the first game (and the worst 2 at that being Moray Towers and Port Mackerel, although Splat 2 reworked them a lot and I really like them now). The ranked modes were the same 3 ranked modes from the first game. Even though there were some changes like there being checkpoints in TC and the Rainmaker not working like an Inkzooka anymore, they were still mostly the same.

Salmon Run was where most people played since it was the exciting new mode, and I really loved it! As leor said, it wasn't available as often, but it still played about the same as it does now. Back then, Spawning Grounds and Marooner's Bay were the only 2 stages and Grizzco weapons didn't exist, but everything else has stayed mostly the same save for some small balance patches here and there.

One other fond memory of 2's release was that the Tri Slosher was ridiculous. It killed fast, it turfed fast, it got its special fast (and Ink Armor was the best special in the game at the time, or at least tied with the Inkjet), it had the best sub weapon, it was fantastic at everything and every mode. No joke, you could look up league records of that time and ALL of the best teams had at least 1 Tri Slosher on their team, maybe even more. Heck, some teams just used 4 Tri Sloshers!

This was just a normal game back then! :p

Splatfests throughout Splat 1 and 2 have changed how their scoring works and how much each category weighs, but overall they've always been an entire day (or more) of Turf Wars. Splat 2 made them more interesting by introducing a new Shifty Station each time, but they were still mostly the same. Not that that's a bad thing, I love Splatfests!

Oh and for the main topic, I played the game once after the final Splatfest to mess around on the Shifty Stations once they got added to private battles, but that's it. I wouldn't say I've lost interest, but I would rather play other game I guess.

I think this is the main reason why solo ranked is so frustrating for me. Sometimes pushes just don't work when no one listens to your only two ways of communicating. I feel like your success also depends on the team comp you get put with and getting 3 chargers on one team on freakin clam blitz just aint it lol. I hope someday before New Horizons is out I'll also get to X rank on TC, my favourite mode, (because I'm pretty sure I'll ditch splatoon when it comes out ;O;) but I get too discouraged when I get on a losing streak. I love league though. It's just a lot of fun playing with your quad even if you don't win because we mess around a lot of the time and experiment with different things.

I'm actually not too bummed about splatfests being over. A lot of the time it was just a chore to do and after hitting max rank I was just waiting for it to be over (the only time I missed playing ranked was during splatfests). I guess the only thing you missed out on are the sea snail freebies. But other than that you can still play the shifties in PB. I suggest try to joining a discord community to find players to play with. I don't like playing on my own unless I got a friend because it makes the game more fun imo. I'm also not even interested in solo campaign, although I did do it to unlock some weapons.

Yesss, those unbalanced matchups are sooo annoying, especially when I’m using a charger. If there are multiple chargers in a match you’d expect at least one of them to be on the opposite team. More balanced matchmaking would make solo ranked/ turf war much more bearable.

Well, I got the game on October the 4th (after you posted), so no, but I always switch interests, then go back to the old ones... So currently, not really playing it, but I will again soon.

i found i lost interest for splatoon a while back and moved onto mariokart a lot more, because it was more of a relaxed feel i found during uni. however, now that uni's done for the year i've found i have gotten more into the game, but i mainly prefer to play salmon run as i don't generally like playing turf war on my own, only if i have friends to play with.

Oh yeah salmon run is all I play when I go on splatoon now. But I’m taking a break to play some Pokemon, although it seems like I missed out on some fun rotations :( We should SR together corndoggy!!
