Lost item "Someone lost this"

I found a lost item(book with bookmark) and when I investigate it just says "Someone lost this". I have never seen this before and can't find anything on google. Is this a glitch?

Edit to add: Idk if this means anything but the book belongs to my newest villager Drift. He moved in maybe a week a ago.

i know the villagers will tell u its just weird cause the item usually gives u a clue to who owns it. i've never seen that message and its not in the online lost item guides which i i thought it might be a glitch

The clue for the lost item depends on the relationship you have with the villager. The higher the friendship is, the better clue you'll get. Since you said that Drift moved in a week ago, you probably haven't built up much of a friendship with him and therefore got that clue.

If you have a certain friendship level with a villager it will give you a personality hint so that you know which character(s) it may have been but when you arent good friends with them it just says "someone lost this..." so once you become better friends with him it will say something!!!
