Made in Abyss [some spoilers for first 2 episodes]

So I started watching this show and I am 2 episodes in. I am enjoying it for the most part but there's something that really bugs me about it... And that is that it seems a little too.. sexually explicit... in regards to the children. For example, Riko talking about Reg's p***s and inserting something into his butt while he was unconscious.. Then a shot of Riko strung up naked as punishment played up for laughs.. I'm not a fan AT ALL of these kinds of jokes.. Any fans of the show please tell me if these issues continue throughout the series or if that's all there is because it is really hindering my enjoyment of it

These exact things really bugged me about the show, too! I watched the whole show and the movie and while it’s a great show (though it’d be much better if it wasn’t so sexually explicit towards young innocent children! D: ), sadly these issues do continue throughout the series....

Those parts about Made in Abyss really made me uncomfortable too, and it also doesn’t help that the author of the series have made...um....unsavory works about that subject as well from what I heard.....

And yeah, just be warned that it does become a gag that continues later on in the series, not to mention it’s going to be absolutely darker well, but that won’t be until the very last couple of episodes.

unfortunately it does continue. it stopped me from enjoying it too.

the worst part is that all of this is intentional to appeal to...those kinds of people, the original author is one of them, even going as far as to encourage nsfw fanart of those characters. the manga is apparently filled to the brim with all of that imagery, the people working on the anime toned that kind of content down heavily and its still as bad as it is.

This is from Japan so what do you expect? Lol.

But in all seriousness, I hate all the weird sexual fanservice and commentary in anime in a nutshell but it makes it worse when it's little kids. Nothing turns me off a show more.

This is all so disheartening to hear.. I want to continue to watch it for the story and world building but I don't think I can get past this... Makes me feel so sick. I wish someone could edit the series and just take those parts out or something.. it's just so disgusting and unnecessary

Yeah that's the main drawback of Made In Abyss. The art and music is stunning, but there's a ton of creepy fanservice. Like others said, it continues throughout the entire series.
