You MAY have thought that mailing was boring and pointless, but it's actually very useful. Not only are you upholding your duty to the neighbors that you like, but you're getting, in return for your cheap services, something you might like.
In the last game, sending mail got me mediocre furniture; nothing that I actually considered for anything. It wasn't AWFUL, but it wasn't too great.
In City Folk, with the same halfhearted letter writing, will you be rewarded with somewhat greater furniture.
The tip for writing mail is as follows;
Send said villager a letter, and write "friend friend friend friend friend" as written. No caps, no punctuation, don't even worry about the "riend" following down from the initial "f" in the fifth word. Just type it five times, pack a bag of 100 bells for EACH villager, and send a batch of them to any villager(s). 10 Letters seems good.
"To Monique (example),
friend friend friend friend f
riend
From Tola"
By mail time, you should receive 10 plentiful gifts (which each may go for some bells) and a grateful response. I suggest doing this if you want to collect furniture to fill up your catalog at a faster pace, carry in some extra dough by selling them, and get higher friend points with the villagers.
Don't knock it 'til you try it.
