I bought a mailbox uupgrade but it still says my box is nearly full.,

do you have it checked active in the inventory listing?

if so, then you might need an even bigger mailbox

I suggest deleting all of your "sent" messages that you don't want to save, they add up really quick:

The small mailbox only holds about 100 Messages
