I thought it would be a good idea to make a general thread for asking advice on map/placement for our islands, especially now that we can move buildings and houses around in this game, similar to the thread for naming islands :)

I'm currently at the stage where I can place my first bridge but I'm already not super happy with my layout and want to move basically everything lmao - I know for certain that I want to have a shopping district on the side of my island with resident services and to have a villager housing area around there too, with a few potentially just across the river. I also have no idea where I want my house to be, I'd like it to be near-ish the other villagers but with space around for a yard area. Any input would be greatly appreciated as I've been agonising over it for a while now :') my map is below!

At the moment my plan is for the majority of buildings and homes to be located close together and near the airport and town square region. Leaving me more vast stretches of land that can be fully devoted to decoration, themes, gardens etc, without any other structures breaking things up.

I honestly have no idea of what to do. My plan was placing all the buildings in the upper part of the island and the houses in the lower part, but sadly it won't be possible :'(

why not ? u can remove the cliffs

I moved all my villagers together to create a little neighborhood. I have all my buildings lined up at the bottom of town for easy access for visitors. My husband and I have our houses together in the center of town, with a large fenced-in shared yard with a pool, fountain, etc. And I put the campsite on the far northwest corner, out of the way, so campers can enjoy some peace and quiet near the beach.

I like how you have the residents all together. I might have to change mine when I can. Thanks for sharing.
