Hey guys. It's me Marcus and I'm gonna start doing some Tennis blogs. I'm sure most people will not be interested in my tennis tournaments, where I go, how I do, and any weird things that happen, but this is just for those people that might be/ that play competitive tennis.
Anyway, this is my first blogged tournament, in Batley, Yorkshire (England).
It's a Winter Regional Tour, which are some of the higher levwel tournaments at this time of year. In fact, the highest, bar the Winter Nationals and National Regional Tours. I'm the 4th seed, it's a draw of 16 but because a few people dropped out (withdrew) I have a buy straight into the 1/4 finals. I'll either be playing an 8.1 or a 7.2. These are ratings which determine your level, and they go like so...10.2, 10.1, 9.2, 9.1, 8.2, 8.1, 7.2, 7.1 etc etc. I'm currently a 7.1.
We drove up straight from my school pick up at 4:00pm. Took us near to 6 hours to get here, and I really hater long car journeys so it was a struggle; not helped by the fact that I kept needing the toilet...
Anyway we eventually arrived in the Mint Hotel in Leeds, because that is the nearest major city and from past experience it is always best to stay in a big city, because sometimes small cities have dodgy hotels (one time the shower was broken so I was playing tennis for a weekend and couldn't have a shower )
So anyway, we arrived, dropped our luggage off into the rooms and headed downstairs for dinner. By the time I got into bed it was gone 11:00pm, so a good nights sleep was necessary before a good performance the next day. I'm typing this now at 8:41am on my match day. My match is at 1:00pm, so it's time to start geting ready for my match. Loosening up, positive thoughts and psyching myself up are all things I do before a match. Will have plenty of carbs with breakfast today, then a light lunch so that I go on court slightly hungry, rather than too full to move!
Will post how I do guys, and if possible might get some snapshots of the tennis centre and the drawsheet up...see ya soon!
