Hey guys, this is the second part of my Batley Tennis blog!
Good news, I won the 1/4 Final! Played a boy who is a year younger than me, but quite a bit taller. Had a massive serve and went for his shots, so I knew to expect plenty of winners, but also a lot of mistakes.
He started well and went ahead in the first set, but it stayed on server. At 3-3 I broke him, but he immediately broke me back; I played a poor game. However, I managed to break again and held serve to take the set 6-4.
I started the next set strong and he was demoralised, so I went up 4-1 easily. However, he caught a second wind and levelled it at 5-5, some very close tennis now. However, I managed to push through and eventually took the second set 7-5, semi final time!
I'm playing at 10:00am tomorrow against the Number 2 Seed, so am expecting a battle. This guy doesn't go for a lot, but keeps the ball in play deep with spin, so I can expect some long ralleys. I know I am capable of winning this match, so hopefully I can live up to my expectations!
