How do you get mario stuff? like furniture and clothes and stuff..
That depends. Nook has a point tracking system. The points actually have a POINT in this game, or at least an actual use. He has exchange gifts, for which you can exchange accumulated points for certain gifts, each of which have a Mario/Zelda/Metroid theme to them.

I don't feel like getting into detail, but such items as TripleShell, Kart, Yoshi's Egg, Varia Suit (shirt), Majora's Mask (mask), etc.

So if that now easy to get whats hard to get?
I prefer it the new way, because a lot of it is worth a lot of merchandise in purchase, meaning it will probably take a while you get any of Nook's gifts, let alone all of them.

But there are the OTHER gifts, like "Metroid," The Fire Flower, and all of that good stuff. I never knew how to get it. Action Replay? Whatever.

In WW you could obtain the mario items by going to a event they used to hold at Toys R Us and downloading the items onto your DS.

The Mario items are not all ways in ballons[sp?]

I found a few ballons shot them down but I only got 1 Mario item x.x

I was willing to buy some off of people but my thead[sp?] went off topic <_<

I know you can get them out of balloons I got like half of the mario set already
