My husband bought me a switch lite so now we have two switches in our home. As I am the island representative, we moved the entire island we have to the lite. Since my husband bought ACNH as a download on his account, we thought that making the lite the primary would work great because then he can still play on the OG Switch with a new island. However, when I try to move him from the lite to the OG, we get an error code that a downloaded game cannot be used on two consoles at once. I can't seem to find any work around in Google, so I was hoping someone here might know a way other than buying the game again.

I'm going to guess you're registered on the first switch as having it as your primary switch.
You'll want to change that.

Deregistering from the Nintendo Switch console:

  1. Select "Nintendo eShop" on the HOME Menu to launch Nintendo eShop.
  2. Select the user that is linked to the Nintendo Account you want to deregister the primary console for.
  3. Select the picture of your icon in the upper-right corner to access your Account Information.
  4. Scroll down to the "primary console" section.
  5. Select "Deregister" twice to confirm. If your account is set to require a password, you will also need to enter your Nintendo Account password to finish the process.
  6. Repeat these steps for any additional Nintendo Accounts that you wish to deregister the primary console for.
  7. The next time you open Nintendo eShop, the console you use to connect will automatically be set as your primary console.

Thanks so much!! I will try this. 😊
