It will take a while to figure out what we want on our islands, and where to have our villagers, paths etc.

What happens if we aren't ready so early on in the game, yet the game has a random villager ready to move in, and asks us where we want that villager to put their house?

We can't put them somewhere temporarily.

Do you think we will be able to boot them out with an amiibo that we do want, once we've landscaped a bit and figured out where we want the villagers to live?

It would feel rushed if the move-ins happened regularly, so I hope we are able to move them in at our own pace, or we would end up with an island full of badly placed villagers we may not really want.

It would suck to put a villager you want in a slightly bad spot, and we can't fix it because of autosave.

Would we have to wait until they move, or again, would we be able to amiibo them out?

Just things that are going through my head.

I don't want to have to move a villager out because they're in the wrong spot, but I also want to be able to fix the problem.

I just wanted to know if anyone else has had the same thoughts/questions. :)

It was said that you can keep the island pretty much deserted as long as you do not repay your loan. So those two villagers that took the Nook Getaway Package with you will be there from the get go, but my hunch is if you don’t want more villagers lining up the beach, I would suggest refraining on paying the loan back.

It also makes me wonder if we can move that tent, and if we build a house, we couldn't make a mistake because I don't think we'd be able to relocate. It would be good if we could.

Yeah, I get it about the loan, but wouldn't that stop things from being unlocked and progressing?

Things that we would need to landscape/decorate the island with.

I've been worrying about this as well, but honestly, we haven't been shown much but I hope its there's an option to move villagers around even once they've been given a spot.

I feel like the thing I worry about least is my animal neighbors. I've never put much time or energy into cultivating relationships with any of them.

If one comes and destroys what I'm trying to create, you best believe they'll feel the wrath of negligence and pitfall seeds.

Oh, I won't hesitate to boot them out. I'm just hoping we can!

I'm not totally heartless though. I felt like crap temporarily giving Felyne the boot in NL, so I could plot him in a better spot.

I think the only two villagers I may work hard to please will be Molly and Stitches. Molly was my mom's name, and Stitches shares her birthday. Otherwise, yeah, I'll have no qualms about letting my villagers move away.

Wolfgang for me! :)

My guess is that villager move ins and out in this game will be easier than older games. The box said that there’s amiibo compatibility, so it’s likely move in villagers using cards again would be continued since those cards are a big selling point for Nintendo. I don’t think I’ll be too fussed with villagers moving in though, as long as I can determine their house plot when they arrive. Though, part of the fun of ACNL for me was to figure out ways to work around weirdly plot houses and still make a good town out of it, like it was a little challenge for me.

I was just thinking of an idea that would be cool, especially if you don't have any amiibo cards or figures.

If on Harveys island, there was a cafe/meeting place where there were a couple of random villagers per day that you could sit down with, talk to, then invite to your island. (You could already have landscaped and made spaces for who you want.)

It beats waiting around for a tent or igloo, with one villager every now and then. :)

I think that's a stellar idea, honestly.

They also start off in a tent like us and we're free to move around as we please since it's a tent and we haven't got a solid plot fixed yet. I'm going to assume that when a villager moves to the island since they also start off in a tent, you can likely change the original place you had in mind and tell them it's better for them to move to another part of the island before settling down with a house. So I don't think anything is set in place when a villager first moves to the island and you have a say where they go.
I think as the island expands, due to progress, you also have a say whether or not you want more villagers so I don't think you'll have to expand and be flooded with X amount of villagers (๑❛︎ڡ❛︎๑)☆︎

Sorry, also about Amiibo cards, you'll probably be able to scan them in but they'll decide if it's worth moving to your island after camping with Harv or visiting via the campgrounds? ☆〜(ゝ。∂)

That makes sense, though I have all the amiibo cards and figures I need, so it would be nice to move them in at my own pace. :)

That's true! Hehe I hope Nintendo give us an answer for Amiibo us rage since we pay so much for them! ٩(๑˃̌ۿ˂̌๑)۶
I never finished collecting who I wanted so I don't even know whether I should get the old Amiibo or just start fresh now since they've made fresh Amiibo... Will there be a difference in items or will it be the same - sorry for going off on a tangent but it makes me wonder... ;.(∩︎?﹏`∩︎):;

You're making a lot of assumptions, such as "not being able to move the neighbor's house".
