Multiple Cartridges But One Switch?

Sorry if this is a question that's already common knowledge haha, but I share a Switch with my family and wondered if having two separate physical copies of the game would allow for separate islands. I was just about to preorder one for myself after my mum has purchased one but didn't actually know if we'd still be limited to one island per entire console.

Unfortunately it's one island per console, no matter how many copies of the game you have. You'd need two Switches to have a second island.
