I also forgot to mention that I’ve picked up the Eb clarinet and my gosh, it is so hard to control. It’s pretty high (to explain to all of you music people, a regular clarinet is tuned to Bb and the Eb clarinet is tuned to well duh, the Eb above it) it may not seem like a huge difference compared to a flute and a piccolo, but to a clarinet player, that’s a huge difference. I’ve always been so scared to play out and even got called out directly for playing phrases too long. I really want to master it but it’s such a pain.

I used to play piano for a few years and stopped because no one could give me lessons anymore and DANG! I really wish that I had just kept going with it. I have so many cool songs that I could play but unfortunately, it will be a really long time until my skill can get to where it once was. I do have a really nice singing voice and have been the lead of many a play, so at least I have that going for me!! I'll probably never have a career in music because my family would frown on that and my voice isn't top tier (I'm just a lil amateur right now) but I hope it can be great if I keep practicing!

I started playing the piano when I was 5! I took lessons up until I graduated high school and was active in both band and orchestra! I was so busy in college and afterwards though that I stopped playing. I really miss it and wish I never stopped! I'm sure I could pick it back up but my piano is so out of tune at this point I don't know if it can be fixed. I'd love to be able to afford a new one someday!

I've always had an appreciation for classical music, and it inspired me to ask my parents for piano lessons when I was in elementary school. I stopped after a few years because I was an impatient kid with a less than amazing teacher. I started taking lessons about last year and I'm very glad I decided to, because I've learned so much and it feels like I'm actually able to play, even if the music isn't the most impressive to play. I've also been playing viola since I was eight or nine, but with no breaks in between. Viola is definitely my more refined instrument but I have a soft spot for piano, too. I hope to continue to grow and progress, and possibly even one day become a music teacher. I'd love to spread my passion and knowledge on to others.

That reminds me of one time I was in one orchestra where one of the clarinetists got out an Eb clarinet that he was to play in a piece. I remember being astounded by how tiny the reed was. Also, one thing I found funny: He was warming it up out in the hallway, where it was really loud, and the English horn player just snidely asks "Does that thing have a volume button?" LOL.

It does seem like the highest instruments have greater volume. I noticed that with the piccolo as well. One rehearsal I sat next to the piccolo player and when she played it was so loud. I'm afraid I giggled and I didn't mean it. She was a fantastic musician. I just didn't expect it to be so loud!

Yeah, it’s small but powerful! As we speak, I’m practicing my Bb clarinet. Eb clarinet is fun, but it can be really loud and out of tune. I haven’t really got to know the piccolo player, as apparently we have most of the parts (in marches that is, always playing the second time) I won’t give up though, I’ll be sure to practice pitch and not make everyone’s ears explode!

this was my last solo played in high school, and it qualified me for a statewide competition for the 4th year in a row ;w;
didn't get to perform it statewide because of covid, but here is master cellist Jaqueline dupre paying it in 1962 <3

I had dabbled with flute and piano before, but I just could not get them to stick or just did not have enough motivation.
I was always really interested in the cello for as long as I could remember -- maybe a project for one day. :)

Before then, I would like to learn a new language first haha.

I used to play a lot of piano and violin, but I think my favorite instrument is the cello. I love how deep and soothing it sounds. And on a great cello is some seriously good wood! Love how the sound just hugs the entire instrument, like the trees have finally come alive.

I play the piano and I love it. I would love to learn to play the violin, harpsichord, or the Japanese shamisen at some point in time because they sound wonderful imo. Also I was going to learn how to play the 16-string Zither when I was going to visit my family back in Vietnam last summer but due to travel restrictions and COVID, it never happened rip ;~;

I can't play an instrument, but I do enjoy listening to music and sometimes paying attention to technological advancements. I find synthesised(?) instruments to be really fascinating and to be on the same line of thought as humans being able to see more colours over time, that we will be able to hear new sounds over time - especially ones we cannot imagine yet.

Some instruments i'm thinking of are imogen heap's gloves and yakushimaru etsuko's... laser rod thing.

Also music being transcoded into dna sequence to be injected into a cell as a means of data preservation is interesting and thought provoking. https://starts-prize.aec.at/en/im-humanity/

I just find it really interesting to consume music and ponder how that would change too, in the future.

I've ordered that electric guitar I've been wanting forever!
Its been a couple days so it should be here soon. I'm really excited to start playing!!
The other nice thing is that it's a starter kit so it comes with everything I need for an awesome deal. Also am practicing the piano more.

As I’ve stated before in this thread, I play Bb clarinet, Eb clarinet, and piano, though it would be super nice if I learned saxophone, flute, and piccolo. Those instruments are very cool and I think that it would be super fun to learn. :)

People who can play the harp have all my respect, when listening to music I always go for harp or guitar covers. I just love string instruments.

i used to play flute bc of band lol, but i regret quitting tbh because i miss it a lot :/ it gave me something to do,, ive also been wanting to learn piano for the longest time but have never got the chance to pick it up D: hopefully soon

I play saxophone and ukulele :] I mainly play saxophone just bc it’s for band and uke for fun. i also really want to learn flute or guitar at one point ^^

Presently, I play the Oboe but I used to play Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Tenor and Baritone Saxophone and a little bit of the Flute. I'm thinking of purchasing a Bass Clarinet since I miss playing it but the problem is most decent ones are ~$10,000 or more.

I also compose scores from video game music for fun.
