Here's my main point.
In conclusion...
I hope you, the reader, didn't misunderstand this. I love the Wii and Nintendo's approach, but I feel that something is wrong. I finally realized what was wrong after showing my mother that FFIII opening trailer, and thing is, Nintendo needs to make games with meaning and beauty instead of just making games so that people would merely spend time...
In short, Nintendo needs to change their approach, but ever so slightly; all they need to do is launch a "Gaming Is Beautiful" game series, much like the Touch Generations series, but which can also appeal to the non-gamer. Hopefully, even though they're not reading this, they do something akin to what I mentioned.
In case you misunderstood my point of view, here's a chart-ish thing to sum it up... Let's detail how it would work, in the order of which a non-gamer would play these games.
1) Touch Generations - The non-gamer would get into gaming with this series, play it for a while, and then understand that there are bigger and better things ahead, and that the TG series was merely to get him or her into gaming.
2) Gaming Is Beautiful - This could be a series also for the non-gamer, but a bit more evolved one. This series would be more complicated than the TG in terms of artistic direction, music, and graphics, but not necessarily gameplay.
3) Nintendo's Usual Games - The non-gamer would, err, drop his title and move on to a gamer and play games like FF, Mana, Zelda, Mario, etc.
