Hello everyone! I know the Gardening badge has been debated alot but I finally think I know the best methods to get it and what counts towards it! I will make a few more of these for other badges but please read the whole thing to get all the information, I know ACNL is old but its still my favorite and some may still need some help on it!
What counts towards the gardening badge?
So, planting flower and fruit trees count. Only flowers from Leif's bags in the shop will count for flowers. You cannot just pick up a flower and drop it, you need to plant them from a bag. All trees and saplings count. The easiest way to get to the required amount is buy planting fruit trees. I have personally tested it and yes planting a fruit/sapling/flower then digging it up counts and gets you closer the the badge.
So first lets talk about the requirements for the 3 gardening badges.
To get the Bronze gardening badge labeled as Backyard Gardener you need to have planted 100 plants.
To get the Silver gardening badge labeled as Village Gardener you need to have planted 250 plants.
Finally, to get the GOLD gardening badge labeled as Gardening Specialist you need to have planted 500 plants.
TROUBLE SHOOTING
Phineas is not showing up for me but I have already planted enough?
Keep in mind that Phineas will NOT show up if it is raining or snowing, before 8:55 AM or past 10:00 PM.
Does planting things in Dream Towns count?
No, this is the same for all badges and anything done in a dream town will not help at all for any badges like weeding or gardening unless its the dream badge.
Does planting things in another persons town count?
Yes, you can plant stuff in other peoples towns and it will count.
Can I use a perfect fruit basket to "cheat"?
I have tested on my second town that if you have an infinite fruit basket you can dig holes plant and then dig up over and over again to kind of cheese this badge if you would like to go the hacking approach. But, if you are a hacker then it is easier just to hack the badge in instead of doing the work????
