So I played around with the Turkey Event and after 4 hours I got bored. Now let me explain why. So when you first start off the event you speak to Franklin and he says he wants 3 Manilla clams to make clam chowder and so I went to the beach dig them up and he made the first dish. Then he askes me to make a Pumpkin pie (Which thank god I didn't get rid of my pumpkin patch) then he makes it and then this is where I didn't realize this but his next dish is a Gratin which requires an Oyster and Mussel which in my mind I was like "oh no....I sold all my fish and sea creatures" so yeah I was mad at myself for not knowing about this. So I spent the next hour diving for sea creatures. I gave them to Franklin he makes it. Then the last dish is the fish one which I didn't have the fish. So I used my Fish Bait to fish from the ocean to get a Sea Bass and Olive Flounder to get the last dish made. By the time I was done giving him all the ingredients for all dishes, especially the secret ones and he gives me the diys I was already done with the event. Not gonna lie I felt underwhelmed. I thought there would be more to it but it just ended there afterwards. What do you guys think of the event?

I don’t mind the scavanger hunt aspect of the Turkey Day event. I like putting in work to get rewarded. This is the first event in ACNH where I feel like I’m actually helping the special character to accomplish something, so I enjoyed it.

What would have made it a more enjoyable experience for you?

Well for me I wanted it to keep going and I was enjoying myself but by the time I was done I just stopped. Like there was really nothing else to do at the moment. So when I was done with the event I just did my usual thing like every other day. I watered my flowers, check the shops, visit my friends and then I turned the game off afterwards. I know we have different ways of playing but for me personally I really wanted more. Btw have you noticed that they never added any new vegetables. It was speculated that it would return but I never saw it.

Well I guess it’s better to want more from an event than to dread another minute of it, like Bunny Day. I guess I just don’t expect anything beyond preparing dishes for a Thanksgiving-like event. But I see where you’re coming from.

& I did notice the lack of vegetables, lol. It’s probably the biggest disappointment of the latest update. I was really hoping to grow more veggies in time for Turkey Day, but nope. I hope more vegetables come in the future... I don’t even like pumpkin pie.

Yeah and not to mention Mushrooms and Fruits were not used at all during this event. I mean honestly we've had fruits for a long while this day one and they haven't been put to any good use. Not to mention I did get Mushrooms from my villagers but I only got a Flat and Skinny Mushroom yet Franklin didn't ask me for them.

I'm a little disappointed with the event tbh. In New Leaf you had to gather ingredients for your villagers to get the stuff Franklin needed + gathering fish and fruit yourself. You had to interact with your villagers allot more. In new horizons I never even thought to visit my villagers cause I already had almost every ingredient before the event even started. I know the list was put up before the event started so everyone had time to prep, but at least turkey day in the past required something special to the event. There isn't really any of that in the New Horizons version...

i didn’t even get to experience the day because i reset my island last week and the tent is being upgraded to the town hall today. :(

I guess the ingredients can change for each player. I needed a flat mushroom for one of the recipes.

I loved it. I didn't prep so it took me almost 2 hours to complete, which I think is the perfect amount of time. I definitely wouldn't want it to be longer. I'm still in the middle of completing it a second time for my other island. My only complaint is that I wish there was more interaction with our villagers. I didn't even go to them for ingredients because I'm worried that they might display the fish in their house.

I also didn’t prep or look up any info about the event. I found out about secret ingredients when Franklin asked me for an item to enhance a dish, and when a villager told me to use all pumpkin colors when making a pie, which led me to seek out more tips from the villagers cooking at home. Figuring out everything as you play definitely lengthened the event and made it more fun/challenging.

yes it was quite short, but I enjoyed it! I prepped for it yesterday since I knew I wouldn't necessarily have enough time today so the actual *event* was short-lived for me, but it was still enjoyable. plus I LOVE the DIYs that we got out of it!! if I hadn't prepped or done any research beforehand it probably would have been more fun since I would've discovered everything by myself, but nonetheless I had a good time.
the only part I disliked was my endeavour to find a Dungeness crab. I searched for hours yesterday with no luck, and finally today it took me some time before I finally got one (or two rather - I had never caught one before so the first one, of course, had to go to Blathers)

I posted this in a different threat but it answer your question.
In its core i agree with you however decided to see and appreciate the details put into the event rather to concentrate on my negative impressions, to be able to fully enjoy the turkey day

. I love the event, everything was super cute and you could see they payed attention to the details. Love the animations everyone was using, the plates slash plates they were holding was def cute.

The furniture is also definitely a plus im like obsessed with how perfectly cute they are ! However it would have been nice to have more than just 2 customizations options, but i am glad at least we can change it to a different color to use it year round.

If i had something to say i expected more in regarding the activities mechanics and dynamics so to say. When Frankly said lets cook and there appeared to be like a loading screen I sincerely thought that we were gonna have like small mini games cooking with Frankling and so, something simple like what you see in phone games, u know? But all said the cute seen although repetitive was super adorable so at least we got that.

Although a small mini interactive cooking game would have been nice and fun for the event and would have been a nice first step to introducing cooking.

Overall super fun and glad you also liked it 💛🦃💛

I loved the scavenger hunt and I loved helping out my villagers and getting ingredients from them (they helped me get all the pumpkins I need, since I don't have any on this island because I started Nov. 1st).

The only thing I disliked about it was the fact that after you complete the 4 dishes, there's nothing left to do. At all. You can't even continue to collect ingredients for the villagers in their homes, which is ridiculous. I actually got back on after quitting and saving so I could just spend some time collecting stuff for my villagers, but nope, they were suddenly A-OK and didn't need me at all which super pissed me off.

Other than that it was quite enjoyable!!

I didnt due any prep and found it quiet fun and doable. It took me maybe 2 hours without any prep to finish.

I love the decor
