Honestly I've been breaking one a day trying to get them close together because it's convenient having them so close together to collect everything, haha. I can break em' all when it comes to relocating em.

Thank goodness you can break them apart. Of course that means a new rock spawns somewhere else the next day.

I have something similar in my island right now. It is nice to have the close but it's driving me crazy. My New Leaf rocks had terrible placements.

Yeah, basically. I broke a rock and one spawned really close to the other and I was like "Hmmm.."
