My Japanese Presentation

50% Katakana jeepers. And not even the katakanaed name of richard nixon. Next time say something about richard nixion.
It's not 50% katakana. The only katakana words are Sony, Microsoft, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, New Super Mario Bros., Zelda, and Spirit Tracks. Wii, DS, and DSi are romaji (obviously), and the rest is hiragana and kanji.

I had to write a short essay for my Japanese 101 class and read it in front of class, and I think it went quite well. I'm proud of my first Japanese presentation, so I'm gonna post it here. =p

Good morning. My name is Tye Marini. I love video games, but I like Nintendo games the most. I don't like Sony and Microsoft games at all. I play video games with my boyfriend. We have Wii, Nintendo DS, and Nintendo DSi, among others. We have three Wiis, and many games. My favorite game is Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It's very fun. Right now, I'm playing New Super Mario Bros. Wii and The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. Thank you.
Three Wii's..... :\
Well, only one of the Wiis was mine at first, and Andrew had two, but now all of my stuff is his, and all of his stuff is mine. So we have three Wiis, a normal US Wii, a hacked US Wii, and a Japanese Wii. =3 Now we need to get a damn UK Wii so we can get the BBC iPlayer Channel (even though it wouldn't work, lol). XD
A hacked wii?

Yeah, I see how much you love nintendo xD

It's not really "hacked". It just has the Homebrew Channel installed. I only use it for Brawl texture hacks, anyway. I'm no pirate.

Um, no. If you'd even read the thread, you'd see that I ran what I wrote though Google Translate, and the translation is very messed up, lol. I actually do know Japanese. Well, a little. I'm still learning.

No, no it isn't. I took a Spanish class in high school, and it made no *censored.3.0*ing sense to me at all. And what the hell is up with every single noun having a gender?! I shouldn't have to remember that a table is table is female and a hat is male. I'm sorry, but Japanese is just so much easier. Pretty much every grammar rule is consistent throughout the hole language. Once you learn the basics, it's very easy. The only part that can be difficult is learning the kanji.

I don't see how learning Spanish would be harder to learn than Japanese, since your primary language is English. All the European languages are pretty much based around each other. Seriously, you can tell what a bunch of the words mean without even knowing any Spanish. I think it's a case of you being more motivated to learn Japanese more than anything.

You may have a point, because I didn't want to learn Spanish at all, and learning Japanese has always been one of my dreams, but still, I just couldn't grasp Spanish at all. The whole language didn't make sense to me. Sure, it was easy to read because it uses pretty much the same alphabet, but there's just something about it that makes it impossible for me to learn. Japanese, on the other hand, came to me quite naturally. I'm really picking up on it well. I dunno. Maybe it's just because I hate Spanish. What can I say? I prefer languages that don't give genders to each and every single damn noun in the entire language. =p

I'm pretty sure Tye is right though, Japanese has got to be one of the easiest languages to learn in the world, if you ignore the Kanji, Kanji is probably the most difficult part of any language XD

Ah, if that is true, then it is a mistake on my part. I always heard Japanese was one of the most difficult languages to learn, but that could very well just be the kanji.

I thought it would be more difficult. Spanish is based off of Latin too, so most of the root words are the same. Besides, you don't have to learn a new alphabet.
