That's probably because of either the paper used or the colored pencils used.

I layer several colors togeter to get my own unique color

like for example, The hightlight are done by lightly pressing skyblue then pressing white really hard on it

I make a BASE color of multiple colors then I makethe shadows with browns,black or the complementary(opposite) color
