Logically I just dont think Nintendo really cares how you play the game once youve paid for it, especially since time travelling and spoiling has not been a concern in any previous release.
It makes more sense to look at the facts. The game suffered a delay. A delay implies they needed more time. Time was clearly a resource they were managing heavily during development. What allows the developers to have more time to develop without another delay? Trimming some content out of the game that inst absolutely necessary at launch. The developers lucked out in this regard since Animal Crossing is a game you experience one day at a time and syncs in real time. So what are things you wont through normal play experience at launch? Holidays. As for other missing content, they clearly had to make some sacrifices in order to give us a polished experience without another delay. I just hope that excluding the holiday updates, new content will be free instead of sold in dlc packs, that just seems so very un-animal crossing.
