MY VILLAGERS WONT STOP CHANGING CATCHPRASES

Okay so a while ago I gave Billy the catchprase "MUSSLESS" and it randomly caught on to whitney and then later on Apollo. it has happened a couple lot more times since then and it MOTHERFLIPPING ANNOYING!!! Does anyone know how to make it stop? If so PLEASE TELL ME IM DESPERATE!!!

Mine all shared phrases around until I finally was able to set unique ones with each. I haven't had any issues since.

Unfortunately that’s just how the game works. The catchphrases will spread like the flu. Just go to Isabelle and tell her you don’t like the way the villagers talk. Keep in mind you have to do each villager one by one this should reset their catchphrase to whatever their default one was.

Go and talk to Isabelle and select "Discuss Resident" and then choose the villagers that are spreading the catchphrase and she will let them stop and they will go back to their original catchphrase.

Yeah, like everyone else is saying once it spreads to a lot of villagers(or everyone) then you need to talk to Isabelle and tell ALL the villagers that stole the catchphrase that you don't like the way they talk, unfortunately it will spread again. I should have never made Puddles's catchphrase be "Splishtastic" because then Cyd started to say it then BlueBear then Marshal then everyone started to say it so I told Isabelle to make it stop and they stopped for a while but all my villagers were being chatty that day so of course it spreads again to everyone in another hour.

Yeah thats why I stopped giving villagers catchphrases because no matter what I did they just won't stop spreading the custom catchphrase. It was worse than them wearing outfits that you accidently give to them and even if you try to tell Isabelle to change their clothes they will still wear the outfit.

I have very little catch phraises on my island, but the three I do have spread like wild fire and literally they are all only using three, and they're weird ones lol the most popular one is the worst one xD

Anyway, like everyone else is saying, you cant really stop the trend, but in the future you can refuse to give them a new catch phrase.

But I also keep in mind, that if this catch phraise spreads, would I be ok with hearing it from other villagers too. Believe me, I taught Lopez to say something funny, and he taught it to Sasha, and I really wish he didnt for reasons, but it can't be helped

So thinking about the after effects is good to keep in mind

You can get Isabelle to stop it if you go to resident services. Like the person above said, click discuss resident and you will get an option for catchphrases.

Catchphrases spread like wildfire. You don't get much control over them.

That's why I usually give mine a catchphrase that I don't mind if they all start to say it. That way its a little more bearable.

I feel I feel! I get annoyed when I give a certain character a specific catchphrase just for it to spread to others who sound weird with the catchphrase. I gave Ruby “bunbun” and she somehow spread it to Lobo, and it’s so odd to hear a cranky dark blue wolf go ”bunbun” like. As much as I hate it though, sometimes I think it’s funny, so I just kinda let it be LOL. Hopefully you find a way to fix your villager catchphrases though, I can see how others just can’t deal with it.
