So I'm sure most of you have heard about this new mythical Pokemon , which first officially appeared in Pokemon GO after community day ended at 5pm (local time) this past Saturday.
You can see some screenshots I took of it below:

Today this Pokemon's name was revealed to be Meltan, and it is, as the title implies, a new mythical. It's not actually available in Pokemon GO (since it simply morphs into Ditto after capture), but I believe it will be available in Let's Go.

What do you guys think of this new poke? Personally I love it's simple yet intriguing design, and I love how it's like super tiny ^^

It's a hex nut sitting on top of a ditto with an unown eye. Can't say I am that impressed, but I am in the group that does not like Pokemon that resemble man-made creations. Particularly if it is supposed to be mythical and thus, presumably, ancient. Did a human see that and think, "I can use those to cinch down my toilet to the wall" and create a wrench and nut?

Oh I thought it was like a Mega Unown shiny something aha. Kinda cute I guess but since I don't plan on getting on either game idc.

Lol at complaints on other sites that obtaining Meltan from a free app is oppressive when I lived through the nightmare days when they only distributed Jirachi in new copies of a spinoff GC game, Manaphy in new copies of a spinoff DS game and Mew in an otherwise pointless Wii Shop game. And then they were eventually Mystery Gifted anyway.

I wasn't convinced that it was real, but I liked it once we saw leaks of it animated!

I’m not really a fan of the design, though I am curious as to what types it is and what kind of signature move it may have if any. I don’t plan on playing Let’s Go, so I probably will not attempt to get one for myself.

I hadn't heard about this until this thread so thank you for sharing the information! I think it's cute but I don't plan on buying either Let's Go game so I'm hoping they'll release it in a way I might be able to get it.

I don't think it's bad. I'm just really surprised that it's a mythical. It feels more like a regular breedable Pokemon to me. It reminds me of when Bonsly and Munchlax were revealed early, in Pokemon XD, before Gen 4 was even out. Those are regular Pokemon, obviously.

I don't know if I'll buy any Let's Go games, but I'm not really worried about it. They always re-release mythicals eventually. They'll make it available again, if not in Gen 8, then likely during Gen 9.

You could get Mew before that from an event at Toys R Us, but it was only for one day and for a few hours. I'm not sure it was even released at every TRU either. I still have my MYSTRY Mew that I got at TRU. :D It required GBA link cables and trading with a person.

Honestly, getting any mythicals at all back then (they weren't called mythicals back then either, they were just referred to as event legendaries) was a pain in the neck. They've been getting wider releases over time, so now they aren't that bad to get.

Something people also forget - you couldn't get Lugia or Ho-oh at all in Gen 3 without the Mystic Ticket event item (which wasn't released anywhere near me - the closest was literally hundreds of miles away) unless you bought Pokemon Colosseum (for Ho-oh) and Pokemon XD (for Lugia). I actually bought Colosseum and XD specifically for those two Pokemon. And yeah, I also bought Pokemon Ranger to get a Manaphy. That game wasn't that great, and then they released Manaphy at Gamestop later on after Diamond/Pearl came out, so it kinda felt like I'd wasted money a bit.

If I remember well, they even made a little video trailer for those who might not have even caught these yet where Professor Willow talks to Professor Oak. Although, is it me, or are they trying to hard to make their conversation funny? I really got into it the moment they mention the name, Meltan. Part of me is more curious what kind of information the pokemon will have once they give us all the details. We all know it is a small pokemon, but what makes this pokemon as myhthical as the rest is what gets me curious.

its dumb and its pointless it looks stupid and im scared if thatsa gen8 mascot

I like it!! It looks really cute! ;7; But I am a little disappointed that they used ditto’s base for it... and I also agree that it shouldn’t be a mythical, it looks too much like a regular Pok?mon. ^^

Oh, but has anyone seen it’s evolution??:

It looks like it just went into some huge mecha and the top is it’s little nut head poking out.

I hope it’s obtainable in Let’s Go since I have no intention of playing Go or going outside lol

Eh, I don't mind it. It's design isn't terrible. I'm curious to see how the rest of Gen VIII will look.

Its evo looks interesting. Too bad it can only be obtained in PoGo. Looking forward to seeing what the rest of gen VIII will look like.

I've said it many times but I'll say it again here, I looks like Registeel's long lost twin brother. Honestly it could probably fit in with the Regis.

Do I like it? Well... Not really sure right now. A lot of people seem to dislike it because it's quite literally Ditto with a nut and that's understandable. In my opinion, GameFreak has always done a great job on hyping people up on the next generation by introducting, pokemon that are either cute looking (like Marill, Manaphy, etc...) or those that look like certain animals (Lucario, Zoroark etc...). Personally, while I think that pokemon based off inanimate objects are pretty cool and unique, I don't think it's a good idea to introduce an inanimate object pokemon as the first of a generation. But it's just my opinion.

It looks interesting. Kind of reminds me of Unown. I hope it has an evolution
