Gligar was the first non-Lake of Rage Gyarados shiny that I ever encountered. I encountered it south of Blackthorn while playing HeartGold. I almost didn't catch it but something in the back of my mind told me to check the Internet and, lo and behold, it was indeed shiny. I caught it. I then saw how awesome Gliscor's shiny is and I proceeded to grind out enough Battle Points from the Battle Frontier west of Olivine City, bought the Razor Fang, and evolved Gligar into Gliscor as soon as possible. Originally named Diego because the blue and yellow of Gliscor's shiny made me think of the colors of then-San Diego Chargers of the NFL. I eventually renamed him to Harbinger, both as a reference to Mass Effect 2 and because he sparked a love of shiny hunting in me; he was the first and a sign of things to come.

Despite all efforts, and while I'm still trying up until the end, I don't think shiny Hisuian Growlithe is happening for me; at least not in time. So, in all likelihood, Gligar is going to be my final submission. Short of Hisuian Arcanine, I couldn't think of a better candidate to go out on. Thanks for introducing yourself, random shiny Gligar.
