After my first time hopping around the mystery islands with an open plot, I have a question about the villagers I found there.

I did 6 islands and I ran through the same set of villager types twice.

It was Bull, Chicken and Frog.

The next set was the same, Bull, Chicken and Frog.

After I repeated the same set twice, I stopped.

Is this the norm? The same types of villagers during mystery island hopping?

I guess I expected more of a variety. Say, 6 islands, 6 different types of villagers.

The villagers who appear really are random, (the game ‘rolls’ for a species then a villager in that species) and islands do not take into account what the villagers on previous islands were. So this is totally normal. It would be more unusual to have an even distribution of villagers, (like a different type each time) though our brains are very good and seeing pattern in things, so it will always feel like there is a pattern emerging.

for me I always feel like I find a lot of crankies. (My least favorite personality type) and I am always convinced the islands are favoring that type, but it is just in my imagination 😅

Feel like I should caveat that ‘more unusual’ is not an actual factual statement. It is as likely as any random outcome - I really meant more surprising to me. Don’t want to misrepresent the way things work. Sorry!

Yeah, it was definitely just bad luck. Some days you'll get awful selection of species, and other days you can get 10 great villagers within 20 tickets. Basically just a numbers game, and I'd suggest to do a hunt with at least 50 tickets or so.
