Has anyone in NA sent their drifting joycons in for repair? How was your experience?

My left neon pink joycon is drifting, but I'm really wary of sending it in as one of the points at the top of the repair submission is that you may get a standard colour replacement if they can't fix it. I love my neon colours and would be absolutely choked to get something else back, but at the same time, the pretty colours are useless if I can't use them, so...

I never got my repair.
That is a question l'm curious about. They should give you the same controls back. But l did heard that if they can't fix it, then they will replace the joy con with gray, red, or blue. What you could do is save the shells and put the old shell on the new joy con. Could be possible to let them know that you want to save your old joy cons, if possible.

I believe tampering (opening up etc.) with your Nintendo products voids the warranty on them so I assume if you did take off the shell they wouldn't fix it at all. At least that's what I saw people say when I looked in to fixing my old joycons.

Well l was saying is to let them know to also send back the old joy cons

I sent my left gray joycon in for repair and after a little less than 3 weeks they sent me a new one. I don’t know what they did with my old one. They didn’t tell me that it was a new one, I just knew because the color was slightly different and more matte than my right joycon. Overall it was a really easy process and I recommend it if you‘re having trouble with drifting. I‘m not sure what happens if you have a special color joycon though.

The issue with changing the shells is that unless you are experienced, it is apparently VERY risky, since something can easily break. At that point, it would be safer AND more time-efficient to just change the sticks by getting a pair on Amazon with the tools.

Well for me l do have experience with stuff like that. I actually removed my old 3ds xl shells and repainted them and put it back on and no problem. First time l did, l looked up a guide, not a video. And there are some good guides for things like this. So that is another way.

And yes l'm done here

One temporary method is to carefully apply contact cleaner around the analog sticks. This gets rid of any dust that might cause the issue.
