i think that all anyone needs to do today is talk to their mayor (if the live in europe) and he'll give you something special. also, if you invite anyone over, they can also get that special item.

Here in Belgium & the Netherlands, we call it Sinterklaas. (St. Nicholaas)
It's an very very VERY old man that lives the whole year in Spain, but comes to our country to celebrate his birthday ( December 5th) All kids can set their shoe, and will recieve presents if they were nice during the year.
