I'm dealing with a user that I want to give negative feedback to because they led me on with a sale and ghosted me for 3 days until I told them I would give them negative feedback. I'm afraid they will retaliate with giving me negative feedback. Is there anything I can do about this? Should I still give the feedback?

If the user actually deserves the negative feedback and it is stated in the rules, then the mods can usually handle to remove your wrongly given feedback. Check with a mod first because I dont want to speak for them. This is just something that I have seen done in the past.

Thank you that's good to hear. Do you know how I can contact a mod for clarification? I don't want others to be cheated by this person because they have perfect feedback when it shouldn't be.

This should work! :)

Can negative feedback actually be left if no trade occurred though? I know it can when someone bids on an auction then never follows though with the purchase for the amount they committed to in their bid, but I'd genuinely be curious about in other situations. Like if they did say they wanted to buy something, is that considered the same level of commitment as bidding on an auction? Hmmm.

also I'm just wondering out loud; idk the answer.

Well in my case, this person was buying items and crafted DIYs which I had to personally order and craft several items I didn't have. They modified their order to reduce what they wanted after confirming what they wanted earlier, and then left me hanging for a few days after I agreed to the reduced list. Now I just have a bunch of spare items I don't need anymore.

It's not a villager trade, but I confirmed with them at least twice that they were ready to buy until they decided that they didn't want to anymore.

Hmm. Thats a more complicated situation I suppose, yes I would just ask a mod. Just reading though the rules the section on feedback it only states that
"Feedback should only be used for in-game experiences and auctions organized on The Bell Tree for any online Animal Crossing game. Moderators may remove obvious violations of the feedback system, but cannot intermediate between in-game disputes" and that "The feedback system is used on The Bell Tree for Animal Crossing online gameplay, Animal Crossing transactions, and forum bell transactions. Feedback should only be given for legitimate reasons. A negative rating should not be made as a response to feedback itself. Illegitimate ratings can be reported to the moderators and abuse of the feedback system may result in suspension."
which doesn't really seem to relate specifically with your situation. Yeah the whole having to craft and special order certain things does seem like the individual burdened you unfairly due to their own indecisiveness, but that would be crummy if you left a negative feedback to which they respond with negative feedback for you if the mods can't remove any of it. When in doubt, I suppose asking is the best bet. but I see thats what you were going to do regardless lol

Yeah it really puts me in a tough spot but I'll ask them :) Thanks for your input! I'll provide the mods screenshots too if needed and they can help me decide
