Hi! I'm trying to catch a tarantula for my Museum. It's one of only 2 insects I need to complete the Bug Section. I've only seen 7 tarantulas in my town since the 1st of June. I'm hoping someone has a town where they show up a bit more frequently. I know I'm not guaranteed to catch one of the little buggers but I feel like I'd have a better chance if I could actually find any.

If you seem to get tarantulas a lot and wouldn't mind having someone walk slowly in circles around your town for a bit, please let me know. I'd be happy to pay to visit. Thanks!

I believe tarantulas are one of those insects that can't appear at all when gates are open/when you have visitors, unfortunately.

My town seems to get tarantulas quite a bit, but this is over the course of time. Like I might see 3 tarantulas in 1 night, but that's over the timeframe of about 2 hours. What I would suggest is to methodically look all around your town, then if you don't find it go in somewhere (train station, ReTail, your house, wherever) and right back out to force the game to regenerate all fish/insects for your map. If you do that over and over, and give yourself a couple of hours during the timeframe tarantulas are out, you might find one. You might want to turn up your sound too. Both tarantulas and scorpions make this sound that I think of as maracas. I sometimes hear them before I see them. Just carefully follow the noise.

Of course tarantulas are one of the bugs that won't come out if the gate's open. It would have been so nice to go to a town where they actually show up more than once a week.

I've been spending 2 - 4 hours a night grid walking around my town trying to catch tarantulas. I go out between 7 pm & 11 pm and also 11 pm to 4 am. I go in & out of buildings, save & continue, talk to villagers every 45 minutes. I see scorpions every once & a while but I very, very rarely see tarantulas. Even though I've caught a scorpion and see them I never hear a maracas or rattling sound. I even wear ear buds to block out other sounds.

I've had others tell me the see them almost every night and sometimes more than one a night. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Ugh.
