Ok ok here's the thing, when I get home I wanna start a new acnl town to coincide with the new chapter in my life, but i really dont wanna reset my old town. So I was thinking after Christmas wouldn't all 3ds' be rlly cheap because everyone wants a switch! So anyway I'm looking for a 3ds xl, but before I make a definite decision, I wanna hear some opinions on what you think on getting a 3DS in 2020

I think it’s a great idea. A 3DS XL could probably be found for a reasonable amount, especially if it’s used.

3ds xl or a 2ds xl will be great to have. I wouldn't get the New 3ds xl because it's a bit pricey for a handheld console for that size. But new 2ds xl is much cheaper than that one. Also Gamestop should have couple of used ones that should still be in good shape. I got a nice hot pink dsi from Gamestop not so long ago which idk why l did but it was in clean shape and everything worked!

Do you necessarily need a new 2DS/3DS console? You say you have a town that you want to keep, but I'm not entirely sure that necessitates a whole new console. Unlike the situation with the Switch where you can only have one New Horizons island per console, you can have more than one Animal Crossing town in New Leaf. I personally have two 3DS consoles and four New Leaf towns, with each 3DS having its own physical and digital copy. You can only download the digital version once per 3DS, but as far as I know you can get as many physical cartridges as you want. I can't say with certainty that you can have multiple physical copies per 3DS console since I haven't tried that yet to find out, but at the very least you're able to have both a physical and digital copy on the same 3DS and I can say that from personal experience. So, instead, maybe just buy another copy of the game?

That said, if there's more to the situation that wasn't mentioned, then acquiring another 2DS/3DS might not be a bad idea. The production of the entire 3DS family of consoles was discontinued this year, and as such they're probably going to be more difficult to find in the future and you'd want to get one while you can. You might want to get one as a backup in case of unforeseen circumstance.

Well, like Halloqueen said, the 3DS consoles were discontinued, which will make them possibly more pricey. If I were you I would just buy another Animal Crossing : New Leaf Game as that would be much cheaper. If you are looking to go to your towns though, that option is out of the picture. I reset my New Leaf town like 6 times and it was sad but worth it. If you end up resetting your town I would go to a friends town first and drop off all my money and items I want to keep, and then sell my town to Tom Nook. I don't think it's worth it to buy more than one 3ds just to have two towns, but you do you. If you are looking to buy some, they are pretty cheap on Nintendo right now, but wait until Black Friday cause they might have deals. Hope this helps!

You can just get an ACNL cartridge and have an extra town that way without paying extra for a 3DS. It's not like the Switch system where you absolutely need multiple consoles to have multiple towns.

Like others have said for New Leaf you just need another copy of the game as you can have multiple towns on one 3DS. ACNL is considered to be a Nintendo Selects game now too so It's cheaper than it was at launch.

There's no need to get a new 3DS unless your old one is broken and no longer works imo.

Forgot to reply, I would like a new 3ds too because my old one is slow and breaking! I dont want like the new 2ds xl my dream one would be a white 3ds xl (not the new one) 😂

Sounds like a fun idea! Unfortunately though, the 3DS XL is not actually that cheap anymore when you buy them new, and usually are about $250 - $300 (maybe more) minimum (from what I have seen), but I'm sure you could find a used one for cheaper though!

well for the money l would just get new 2ds xl orange and white one. Also you can always get a sticker skin to cover the original color of the console. Just like the other user said that getting a brand new just 3ds xl is not very cheap now days. One day you could get lucky but l would just get a 2ds xl though.

Follow your dreams and make them a reality. Get the new 2ds imo its so light and nice and the black/blue model is clean af

3Ds is the best option in my opinion, though I never use the 3D feature so maybe 2D is best if it's cheaper. I know I got my 3DS for £50 with games so that was pretty cheap, from ebay, and it was in perfect condition too with charger.
