New Horizons will have 383 (and more) Villagers!

Based on the original tweet, I'm still not sure if it's 383 villagers in total, or 383 returning villagers. The wording is a bit ambiguous in the tweet, since it said it's sending letters to all 383 Nook's Homes customers. Are the new villagers we've seen considered Nook's Homes Customers?

Well, we can at least confirm a minimum of 383 villagers. That's New Leaf + Welcome Amiibo, correct? We know of at least 7 or 8 new ones we've seen since, so its safe to say perhaps at least 400 or so?

That's why we aren't actually sure yet - we don't know if the 7 new villagers are included in the 383 or not. If they are, that means some villagers were cut from base game + the WA update.

Yikes! That would be a little troubling, because it would be mean either very few new villagers (though that would mean few cuts) or very few cuts (which would mean we don't get many new faces).
does this mean the wa villagers are base game in nh?? so you could get a wa villager as a starter villager?

I think the number 383 they're referring to is 333 villagers in New Leaf + 50 returning villagers in WA update, and they aren't counting the new villagers in New Horizons probably because they're part of the updates in the future...idk, lots of possibilities
Are there amiibo cards for all 383 NL/WA villagers? If there are, I would assume all 383 villagers are returning because you can just scan them onto your island at some point. The tweet is probably just a cutesy, in character way of confirming all returning villagers and the new villagers aren't induced because they're never been customers of Nook's Homes.

I think it's 383 + new villagers. I think they want us to get hyped by the fact that all of the ones that exist in New Leaf (including WA) are back. They probably are keeping the number of new villagers a secret for now.
They've never NOT had new villagers in a new main AC game I don't think, so it'd be shocking if they didn't have new ones.
