It is a sequel. Takes place not long after the second, and also takes place long before the second. It looks like they do some time traveling in this storyline.

I beat the story mode on the first one, but the extra dungeons are too long and boring. I'm working on Explorers of Time now, I haven't gotten really far but I want to finish before this comes out in Amerca.

A lot of sites rate these games down, but besides the graphics, I think they aren't that bad. I'll probably get this one when it comes out.
