Guest, you're invited to help build our new TBT time capsule! It contains three parts, with some of its elements planned to open in 2029 and others not until the distant future of 2034. Get started in 2024 Community Time Capsule: Blueprints.
These ideas will be pretty rough since I'm typing on my phone and it's really late where I am. But I was thinking and needed to get it out.
Geodes/gems (sometimes, when you break the gem rock, it'll be a special geode you can take to blather to asses and tell you about)
Books (maybe a new NPC comes around selling rare books from around the world. It'll tell you the synopsis, the publishing info plus how the book was received or how it affected the world. Would be really cool to learn about this)
Technology (old bizzare technology that was revolutionary back then but obsolete in modern day. Maybe you can dig these and it'll be in pieces that you can put together?)
Also I want a blob fish added. And I want the tanks/cages to look nicer than they do now so it'll look better when displayed inside a house.
What other specific bugs/fish/art/fossils do you want added?
What other museum collectible types/exhibits would you like added?
an expansion on the current collectibles would be cool but a new category would definitely be interesting, kinda like how they did the deep sea diving creatures but linked them into the fish category at the museum, maybe artefacts could fit into the art section, similarly to how they do artefacts in stardew valley
Some new collectible ideas I wouldn't mind seeing:
-Greater archeology section. In addition to fossils, perhaps artifacts that are different per town. Each town has its own artifacts from an ancient civilization and they can be identified and donated to Blathers or sold. To not entirely require online access to complete, Redd could sell one when he visits too.
-Birdwatching pictures. Include a camera in the game, perhaps of use by the player for various purposes. In addition, since we've seen birds and such sit on the Bulletin Board, perhaps have various flying animals like birds, owls, and bats sit on rocks or fly in the sky at different times of the day/year. If the player snaps a photo of them, they can donate it to Blathers for a new exhibit.
-A botanical section in the museum for flowers and tree types you've grown. That way you'll always have a place to remember your rare hybrids without wasting storage space or risking them being trampled/stolen.
- Gems and crystals in raw form.
- Somewhere to store the gyroids, please!
How you have mentioned books is neat, would definitely be cool to see how that would work.
As for just general artifacts/old technology, I think it could be a separate category as well. Mostly Stardew's system comes to mind when I envision this, but those are mostly mythical related or junk items. I wonder what Animal Crossing would use!
So many great ideas in this thread! I?d also really like to see books added (maybe we could have a library in the museum with a new relative of Blathers working there?) and a gyroid section would be cool too.
I am into this gyroid idea very much. They just take up space and I don't want to decorate with them, but I don't want to sell them all either. It seems kind of pointless to be able to dig so many of them up and not be able to use them for much.
I also agree with better tank designs for the fish/deep sea creatures when you display them. Hopefully better insect cages too. I want to have pet fishies and beetles, but the display looks tacky and doesn't always match my home's design.
I do love the idea of an archaeology section in the museum, but I wonder finding things like pottery and such will be too close to the trash system. Or maybe they could do away with you finding pitfalls and tires and cans and just have that be the artifacts you can donate. Would be nice.
I also LOVE the idea of the botanical garden. I think it could go really well with the insectarium since there are loads of different plants/trees/flowers in there anyway. But that might be hard if you catch a beetle first and then have yet to donate the tree that they'll be displayed on. Maybe I've just talked myself out of this idea, lol.
I can't really think of anything more. Except maybe if they bring back Celeste's observatory and you can look up and manage to "collect" the constellations all year. That'd be pretty neat! And then of course, you could add your own.
all great ideas! i would love a geode/gem section, and even though Redd already provides statues, i would love to see pottery/ceramics. it would be an easy addition, either Redd could start to sell these, or maybe they could be found digging, like with fossils.
and yesss to 2kimi2furious about bringing back Celeste's observatory! Celeste is one of my all-time favorite characters and i miss being able to draw constellations...
and not that i don't love Blathers, but a new character in the museum would be refreshing. maybe Blathers retires to the island w/Mayor Tortimer and a younger, new animal could take his place!
Of the things I haven't already said in another thread, I think a dodo fossil (technically a skeleton since fossils have to be about 10,000 years old before becoming one) would be a nice addition. Since they're quite famous now for the fact they went extinct.
I agree with the blobfish idea. Perhaps when in the museum, it would resemble its form when in its natural habitat. Since blobfish are adapted to live in extreme water pressure, they look incredibly weird when taken out of that environment. I don't know if we can replicate that kind of environment in real life, but in this world we'll say Blathers has the technology to give it a functional habitat.
Adding onto that idea, maybe there could be a deep ocean tank in the fish exhibit. There are some very interesting creatures in there, and it would make sense to have them in one tank.
Oh gosh, I'd love to see new fish, bugs and especially new creatures when diving, but I hope they add a new category of minerals/rocks
To obtain them, it'd work the same way as new leaf with breaking rocks, but instead of gems only coming out, there would be more rocks to collect and give to the museum
I think it'd add more variety and it'd be really pretty to see some interesting rocks or jewels
I would love this! The rare ores and gems would be pretty neat to put in the museum. Gyroids would be neat too since I don't really use them and I feel bad for not. Maybe some old ancient artifacts could be put in there too? Gosh, the list could be endless. XD
I totally agree with adding the blob fish! They are so funny looking, and I think they would be adorable. On the topic of new sections in the museum, I would really like a botanical section but I most want a gyroid section. I love them, and I think that it’d be nice to have a place to actually display them with a purpose.
To add onto the gem idea, I think you should have an option to "assess the gem" and then have it manufactured into a nice attractive shape to be put on display in a nice exhibit, kinda like in a jewelry store with the nice cushions and velvet boxes. Could be overseen by Celeste!
