December 8, 2006 - In a surprising turn of events, Nintendo is already the target of litigious action concerning its newly released Wii console. California-based Interlink electronics has filed a complaint against Nintendo for what it has deemed to be a case of copyright infringement over the pointing functionalities of the Wiimote.

Gaming blog Kotaku has obtained a court filing, issued by the US District Court of Delaware, which accuses Nintendo of infringing on a patent filed previously by Interlink Electronics. The court filing claims that Interlink Electronics has suffered "loss of reasonable royalties, reduced sales and/or lost profits as a result of the infringing activities of" Nintendo.

So, what do you think? I think Interlink Electronics is just looking got money.. i had never even heard of them..

oh, I thought this was going to be about someone getting hurt by the remote hitting someone or something.

by the way, did you get the email with the wii safety warnings? I did >_>

edit: I just read the whole article, I doubt that nintendo will have to take the wii of the market.

Ohhh... People just have to have money.

I seriously doubt that Nintendo 'stole' the Wiimote idea from that other company.

Oh, good grief! And you know what, I've never heard of that company either. I don't see any reason as to how Nintendo should got sued.

Nintendo have been involved with a few law suets.
like when, i can't remember who made it, something like
"the Great Gina Sisters" and it was super mario bro. but with a women instead, the levels were practically the same and the enemies were also very similar.
I think nintendo won their case.

If i can find some i will post the picturs.

People are seriously overreacting.

NINTENDO WILL NOT PULL THE WII OFF SHELVES. Why? Because they're dealing with a SMALL company, and if Nintendo does lose the case, the worst possible scenario is Nintendo making a payout.

say if they win this case and sony makes that sort of thing, couldn't they get sued to?

well, sony i thnk have used some sort of motion sencor in the controller, so if nintendo didn't like that, it could end like a whole new story.

No. The company isn't suing Nintendo for the motion sensing alone, but for a trigger as well.

Honestly, I believe we'll be seeing a lot of these.
Whenever a company makes it big, smaller companies claim that they stole ideas. It's happened before.

I bet that company invented the TV remote and is now going to sue all companies that make TV remotes?

If the court has nintendo guilty or whatever....the bad part, they are stupid. Some small unheard of company is trying to make money, can the US court not be stupid and just laugh at it?

Guys... don't talk about something if you have no clue what's going to happen. All that will happen is Nintendo will make a payout (small for them, big for the small company), and it will never go to court.

The small company knows they can't win in court, since Nintendo would just keep lengthening the trial with rebuttles, and the small company could not afford the costs.

Nintendo also knows they want as little negative publicity as possible, and don't want a legal case made against them in court.

I guarantee you that if anything happens it will just be a payout made by Nintendo.

I heard about this. Many people say they won't win and I agree but there have been some funny court cases where people who shouldn't win won.
