Nintendo Switch Lite is Out!

As much as the colours appeal to me, I just can't get a lite. Has no one mentioned the lack of motion controls with the lite? Didn't Nintendo say not all games are playable on the lite? Games like ARMS and Go Vacation are unplayable due to the fact that you don't have separate joycon remotes to play those games, since they require motions you can't do with a lite like running or thrusting.

If you only play in handheld mode, I heard it's good. But it really is a lesser version of the Switch.
Smaller screen
No motion control
As someone mentioned, defeats the name (technically I can't consider the Switch as a true handheld, it's too bulky)
Still has drifting issues

For a budget console it doesn't seem bad. But it seems you're better off waiting for a better version or waiting and saving up your money if you want a true all games experience.

I plan on getting one, but I don't think I'd get rid of my original switch for the lite.
I was able hold one and it feels nice in the hands;a decent weight to it. I'll probably just use this for older RPGs,Puzzle and Arcade Games.

(Probably going to get the Pokemon Version unless a Animal Crossing version gets announced before that purchase is made.)

Yeah,I agree with your assessment.I think that the Switch Lite is meant to be an entry level Switch and not a replacement for the regular Switch.Nintendo did the same thing with the 3DS when they introduced the 2DS which had some features of the 3DS removed but was offered at a lower price.I think the Lite targets those people that don't already have a regular Switch and might be on the fence about spending $300 for it.

I work at a store in an electronics department and a couple of days before the Switch Lite was released, we received a couple of boxes of the turquoise and yellow systems. I think they're pretty and kind of cool, but I already have a Switch so I won't be getting one, and it's not truly a Switch if you take the Switch out of the Switch, right? If it's only the handheld, should they call it something else? I couldn't imagine having the Switch lite, it just seems so big for me. I heard the battery life is amazing, though, not that I've noticed a problem with my Switch.

I think those games are playable but you need to buy separate joycons...Which sort of makes the fact it's a cheaper version of the console almost redundant given the cost of joycons.

I don't think it's totally comparable to the 3DS/2DS. With the 2DS you didn't really lose much other than a feature that a lot of people didn't use anyway, the 3D. It otherwise didn't effect your ability to play any game at all (correct me if I'm wrong). I imagine the amount of people that bought a 2DS and later thought "I really really wish I bought a 3DS because I really want that sweet 3D" is a very small minority.

Switch lite you're missing quite a lot of features, some requiring you to buy an entirely new system if you decide later that you want the feature (docking) and others requiring the purchase of expensive peripherals (anything joy con related).

I don't have a switch yet. I plan on buying a Lite soon though. I am getting a lite simply because it is cheaper. Most of my friends don't have a switch either, so I don't need to worry about being able to play it on a screen. A handheld is all I need. I sometimes prefer handheld anyways. I have been holding on getting one because of the money. Not just the system is expensive, but the games are as well. I get paid three times in November, so I think that would be a good time to get one. I also need a new laptop though, so I am thinking maybe I should get the laptop instead. I am think the Lite though, because it is cheaper then a laptop and Christmas is coming up as well. I will still need some money for christmas this year. I will just have to save up little by little over multiple paychecks for the lap top. I remember want a switch though. For Animal Corssing Horizons mostly. Finally excited to have an AC that might be as good or even better then New Leaf. About time. I can't wait to play Luigi's Mansion 3. I want to play Spyro. I liked Enter the Dragonfly when I was younger, so I would like to play they new Spyro. I don't have a PS4 to play that on. I heard Super Mario Odyssey is good too. I'd like to get another Mario Party as well. The last couple of the 3DS have been boring though. If anyone has played it for the Switch, let me know if it was any good.

The switch lite seems like a good fit for you, but I'm glad you mentioned those two mario games. Those games have reduced functionality on the lite. You will need to buy joycons for them due to the lite no having motion controls. If you really want Mario Party specifically you need the joycons or else that game is unplayable. While mario oddysey is playable on lite without joycons mario does have some moves tied to motion control. I hope this can help you on your final decision. Google is your best friend if you have any other concerns on these two games. You can always find a list of unplayable games online. Anyway good luck and maybe you'll also find a good price for a laptop this holiday but they always recommend buying a laptop instead during back to school.

I walked past the lites when I was out shopping the other day. I’m still hoping they come out with a New Horizons themed switch or switch lite before I go ahead and purchase another one. I almost exclusively play in handheld mode so I’d really like to get a lite.
