It certainly is an interesting country with a lot of history and culture, and they did contribute a lot to the modern world, especially with technology. So I guess I appreciate their technological contributions to the world, as well as their art.

I've only been to the airport in Japan, so i'm not going to presume that I know enough about their culture to comment.
I've enjoyed the Japanese films that I've seen, for what that's worth.
and the people i've met online from Japan have all been super nice

I think food and entertainment could be considered a part of culture..anime is an art style...art is culture

I think what he means is that there is more to Japan than just that. I actually have to agree, and most Japanese don't very much enjoy constantly being generalized as anime central lol, Japan has way more to offer than just that. The only anime central in Japan is Akihabara.

I'm a language nerd who has worked as a JE interpreter/translator, so I like Japanese the language. I like one anime and a lot of Japanese food. Their history is pretty cool too.

I'm way more of an Anglophile. The anime I like is set in Victorian Era London.

The title of this thread is soooo cringeworthy, hahaha

Ehh I put I appreciate it a lot: I've watched a few anime series, read a quite a bit of manga, and I've learnt a bit of the language...I also went there in the Summer and it was great ^^

日本が大好き!11!1!11!11! 1!1

I'd love to go there. I love their video games, cars, electronics as well as the culture especially. The food is amazing.

I can understand that...hmm, I didn't know most Japanese felt as if they were generalized by anime...I hope it's not taken as a bad thing because anytime I read articles about anime here in the west it's often praised for being skillfully written and illustrated..Spirited away was just voted as one of the best films in the 21st century by movie critics worldwide..

I love Japan, but I don't really watch anime, though I watched a few series >->
I absolutely love the food, from the kit-kats to the onigiri, haha. I love wagashi.
I'm trying to learn Nihon Buyo dance from YouTube as there are no teachers in my country, I love the dance style! I want to learn chado and shinobue in the future too, or perhaps the shamisen.
I'm really interested in geiko and maiko culture. I research it a lot ^-^
I'm learning the language at the moment, too.
I wear some J-Fashions, it makes me happy, I have a few wigs and circle lenses and things that are pretty attention-grabbing, haha. My favourite styles: Fairy Kei, Sweet Lolita, Larme Kei, Hime Gyaru.
I listen to some J-Pop.... in general I'm just very interested in Japan, and its culture and history. It's a fascinating country and learning about many aspects of it makes me happy :)

It's actually not as popular as people may think it is over here on the western side, lol. Um think of it this way, anime is like normal cartoons to them, so there really is no WOW factor to them. Most Japanese in their late teens/adults are actually way more into Disney lol Mainly because that isn't something naturally shown over there. So they are interested in western style cartoons and popular stuff over here while we're more interested in what's over there lol.

They are like otakus but for a whole different kind of subject haha.
It's not that they find it offensive, just not as interesting to them. And the term otaku itself over there has a complete different meaning than western standards. while we take it as someone really interested in anime culture and a good thing, over in Japan it doesn't have as much as a positive meaning.

Most of my Japanese friends, rarely watch anime at all, so it's never a topic of our conversations lol But let me mention Frozen, and the whole country goes wild lmao

Japanese language is easy to learn kinda, it's kanji that kills me ;-; I've gotten extremely lazy at trying to practice it.
