lol okay so. i just booted up the game and personally i find this to be a huge oversight - you can't seem to access resident services on new years! and that means you cant access the ABD and withdraw/deposit money, either. i mean, i know you can time travel, but it seems a bit silly and like a huge oversight to just block such a major function of the game like that for an entire day. i wish they would move the abd thing to the airport or add some sort of app on the nook phone! grrr its so frustrating

I quite like the fact that it's closed in the sense of Isabelle and Nook getting out of the 'office' if you will for at least one day, but it is quite annoying we can't access the ABD unless we travel all the way to RS. online banking please!
Totally agreed- it's a cute idea, but poor execution. I forgot to deposit some bells last night, so I had to dump 99k on my sidewalk until tomorrow
It's definitely annoying but like jellybeans said it's a cute detail and I love seeing Isabelle and Nook out in the town instead of stuck behind those desks! I would actually love it if them and the shopkeepers would hang out outside after hours so we could interact with them more.

Like @JellyBeans says im also super happy its closed and super decorated, there are stands, Isabell and tom are out dressed up and with new cute dialogues ! I am adoring the deco and vibe of the plaza to be homes. However, just like you say it would have been nice that Isabell would have used her normally useless morning announcements a day earlier to let you know they would close and there would be things to buy so you could plan on taking some cash out of your ADM. It is annoying, but i guess the developers thought you could catch some fish to make some quick cash in case you needed to buy NY themed items, thats my closest guess
Yeah, the not getting to access my ABD is a bummer. I saw a thread the other day saying it would be closed and was like “ah well, no big deal,” until I started the game today and realized I had like no bells on me. At least the New Years hats are on the cheaper side!

It's a bit annoying I didn't unlock the catalog app on my alt toons since rn I'm trying to fill their houses...so I could only order on my main toon today since the others have to do it via kiosk.
I do miss the post office/abd combination so I do wish it was separate from RS. But, I guess it is what it is.

I think they should have closed the lobby/office portion of resident services and made the ABD accessible. Just like accessing a real bank ATM after hours! It would be so cute to see it with the lights off and just have no rating info/construction that day!
It's annoying, but it's no different than when it's upgrading from a tent to a building. I do wish I could access my bank today. I had to drop bells all over my house floor.
They just need to add a Nook Stop kiosk outside the Town Hall on days like today, and then remove it tomorrow.

The ABD should have been placed in the airport. It's the only place on the entire island that:
- never closes;
- never no moves;
- is always accessible;
The recycling box, yeah, that could stay inside the RS building, but I never understood why the ABD isn't inside the airport.

Although I can see how it would be very inconvenient for some people, and even though of course you can always access atms etc irl, there is something kind of fun to me about having the resident services building and all it’s conveniences closed for the day, like it feels more like a real holiday. And it is nice having Tom nook out on the plaza again too!

Someone posted a warning thread about this yesterday so I was prepared. It's nice that Tom and Isabelle got a day off but it was still inconvenient. I wish they had brought some other character back who could've worked in RS so that Tom and Isabelle could've had a day off while people got to interact with a returned NPC.
