FYI on New Years Day because the building was closed it gives you 500 NM and says that you'll start the next day with a 7+ day streak.

This is what I thought would happen when I heard tom nook and isabelle were out for the day! It would be so much more convenient and would be pretty cool to see- I have no idea the kind of coding involved to make that happen but I imagine it couldn’t be too much for Nintendo
The OP is not saying that it's not a cute idea. They're saying that it's a pain to have to wait until the next day to get money, grind for the money even though they have it, or TT. Isabelle in NL also had the mayor office closed on holidays, but the bank abd system was never trapped in the mayor office. It was in the postal office that was always open.
exactly!! this is exactly what i was saying haha. i think the idea of isabelle and nook getting time out of the office is adorable, but frankly it is bad design to me to not be able to access your reserve of one of the games core mechanics: the currency! and its something so easily fixable, too, with a phone ABD (it doesnt have to be realistic imo) or just putting another abd in the post office with the update.

It made me glad I had enough bells still in my pockets for the things I needed to buy today! It's cute to see Isabel and Nook out from behind the counter in their finery but it definitely highlights the need for another ADB or phone app.

I personally wasn't bothered by resident services being closed for the day. I liked seeing Tom Nook and Isabelle out of that tiny office for once. It was so nice to celebrate with them as well as all my villagers!
It's not really a big deal that it's closed if you aren't planning on doing any moving of buildings or building/demolishing inclines and bridges. You still access the Nook Shopping through your phone if you have unlocked the app.
I can understand why its annoying for wanting to access the ABD though. Luckily, I already had a lot of bells in my pocket, so I didn't need to worry. But they should add an ABD somewhere else besides resident services.
