So i’m looking at this picture all excited for some stairs! and then the floor gets my attention... those aren’t the dirt paths they look like brick!? So are patterns being taken away?

I suppose if we can place anything anywhere AND have cool different paths with the same style rather than tacky (some path patterns were kinda weird to me) I think its really exciting!! What does everyone think????

*edit*
i know patterns are staying! i just meant like not to be able to put them on the floor? of course they’re staying! Just the option to place them on the floor? IDK! was just an thought..

I think patterns will stay, because patterns have been integral to the game for making clothing since ACGC, and have remained since. I'm not sure if they'll take out the ability to place patterns on the ground, but with how popular it was in NL, I don't think they will take that feature out :)

I do love the 'official' brick paths we can get though! I'm hoping there's more ingame path designs.

I never use patterns, but it's great for those that do.

That looks like a dirt path though.

I’m sure you can still use patterns, as that’s such an integral part of the franchise. However, QR code’s won’t be a thing anymore of course so the ability to share patterns will probably be limited.

I think, when you use the path tool, you can load it with the pattern of your choice or use materials from the shop or use the materials first so it makes the sound you want to hear from the path and cover it with your pattern using the tool... ٩꒰ʘʚʘ๑꒱۶
I wonder how else we can shape them?

If you look at a higher quality image, you can tell there’s a pattern on that path. It’s also more reddish/orangish than the dirt paths we’ve seen, so it’s likely a brick path option

never fear. patterns are definitely staying. if you notice in this trailer we see a flag at dodo airlines. it's clearly not as high quality as other textures so i'm sure we'll be able to change it via custom pattern designs.

I'm sorry if this comes off as rude but wow this fanbase jumps to conclusions quickly.

Nothing wrong with analysing details. Once Nintendo gives us info, we can examin the information instead ( •̀ᴗ•́ )و ̑̑

No, no, I know analysis is fine but just rapidly assuming "[x] is removed" is a little much.

I did say i didn’t assume it was removed :) just an observation that the game is giving us paths, so m a y b e patterns are gone? was just a thought

I'm hoping next Direct that they gave us an insight as to how patterns work in NH! I understood what you meant about placing them for pathways ☆〜(ゝ。∂)

I think they'll let us share them with codes or maybe an app on the Nook Phone will be a place we can browse uploaded designs.

I second this! Either this (browsing by using hashtags or something like that) or a system similar to the course-search in Mario Maker 2, where you can easily search a certain course by entering its specific code.

I don't think they'd remove patterns. They just don't look as HD and shiny as the rendered default clothing items and pathways so they won't show patterns in most of the trailers.

I was kinda going along the lines of PC for info on UI

I?m totally going to have a remote island for all the villagers getting on my nerves. Like Mathilda!! She?s such a pouch monster.

Patterns on the floor were always an awkward way to make up for the fact we couldn't have proper path (other than grass deterioration). It was clunky, it did not really work well (nothing could fall on it and they wouldn't blend well with the rest of the ground texture). Never have I ever ever visited a village once where they'd plastered the town over with patterns to be a good idea. If Nintendo took ground patterns out, I would be happy.

But then we'd be stuck with their measely selection of path designs (kinda like how we're stuck with only 3 building renovative PWP styles). I like having loads of possibilities from other talented designers.

I do agree with it being clunky and way too difficult to place.

Most of the fanbase use patterns, there's no way they'd remove them. What is exciting is how they might change the functionality, like you mentioned about how they don't work well in the world, I think they'll change that aspect, I can't wait to see more creativity from everyone, I really love everyone's individual art!
