No snowballs for me :(

Hi guys,

Is anyone else having problems getting snowballs to show up on their island? I have a very decorated, terraformed and flower-covered five star island and I can't seem to get snowballs to show up at all. I even tried clearing a big area completely (this is the largest totally empty space I could manage) and nothing.

I heard they could spawn on flowers, and I have one area that is just an enormous flower field, but they aren't showing up there. I also have some pretty empty areas that just have a few scattered pattern tiles and no dice. I never got any announcements about snow from Isabelle either, although I clearly have it and have been catching snowflakes. Does anyone know the exact requirements for getting snowballs to show up in your town?

Have you tried closing the game and restarting after clearing the space?

I watched a few videos on the snowballs. I accidentally broke one (actually more than once), and I had to go in and out several times for them to respawn (seems to be sort of iffy). They do spawn on flowers because, mine spawned on a big flower field.

Edited, the ones I watched recommended a large area because he likes to make his snowmen all in one area.

I don't know if this is helpful. I would keep trying.

I've made a post highlighting this, but in my case, they don't need a large empty area to spawn. So go check every inch of your map.

No- only snow. Paths can actually be used to decrease their size by rolling them over them. IDK about flowers, though, I've heard conflicting reports.

Anyway, they seem rather fickle. I'm wondering if the area you made might be a little too... short? Like, maybe the area between the river and the beach isn't long enough? The area I made wasn't as wide, but was longer- it was more like a square, and they show up there everyday.

BUT. The first day I had snow, I didn't have any spawn because no space. I cleared some space and, IIRC, snowballs didn't spawn until the NEXT day. But I also didn't spend that much time on that day since I TT. So IDK if it would've otherwise.

They do on custom, I don't know if they appear on the in game ones. Mine appeared on a custom path.

I have a feeling that they don't spawn on the edges of your island. All of my snow balls have spawn pretty far in and sometimes next to my rivers.

I had one that was hiding just behind or in a white flower (on the same square) and I didn't notice it until I accidentally kicked it.

That area in the original post looks plenty big enough to spawn snow balls.

I didn't find any snowballs this morning, but my open space is dotted with mannequins, as I'm working on respawning my rocks. I'm hoping to be done with that on Monday, so hopefully I'll start spawning snowballs then.

i thought I had enough space cleared but haven't found any snowballs. It's possible I missed them but I'm pretty familiar with snowball hunting in acnl so i have been pretty thorough.

Guess I need to clear away more paths and stuff and wait for tomorrow :/

Did you try quitting the game and reloading? I didn't have any snowballs when I first played this morning, but when I played again a few hours later I found 2 of them. They were in a spot that I know I looked at before so they only spawned after loading the game for a second time.

I had a pair show up the first time I loaded my game today, but one of them hit a tree; when I went into a building and came out, the other one was gone, too. Since then I've reloaded my game like ten times or something and gone into a bunch of buildings just in case, but I haven't found a single snowball since despite running all over my island every time I've reloaded the game. I have a decent amount of open space on my island as well, so I don't know why I haven't been able to find any.

I tried a lot of different things and they didn't work, so I finally wound up clearing an entirely different space that was more square like someone suggested. It worked! Snowballs, finally. Thanks everyone!

It took a while but I did get them to spawn! They seem so much easier to break than in NL.

It's just the first day with snow on the ground, but I'm also not seeing any snowballs. I don't have a heavily decorated island so I imagine there's enough space for them to spawn. Still, nothing.

I’m having the same problem, only one snowball is spawning on my island. I cleared a bunch of space because I thought maybe my island was too decorated for them to spawn and still nothing.

Okay, I figured it out for my island.

At first I tried making a space for them to spawn, but that didn't work. I then tried removing some larger items like Stonehenge—still no. What finally got the two snowballs to appear was removing all of the tree branches that were lying around.
