alright boys and girls and gender-nonconforming folks, i need help with possible options for a new smartphone.
i've been a fan of the iphone for the past 7 years, but after seeing the direction apple's been going, plus the recent release of the iphone 7, i'm really not feeling the apple vibes anymore. along with the fact that iphones typically start slowing down after 2+ years (and macbooks, in my experience), i need something that..
for reference, i'm currently using an iphone 5s. i've done a little research on my own in the past, but i'm still not exactly sure where to start. plus, if you have a non-apple smartphone, i'd like to hear your comments and critique about your experience with it. it'll help me make a decision.
note that i'm not going to actually buy a new smartphone in the near future, but i wanna know some good options for when the time comes.

- will last 2+ years without slowing down (i don't use many apps to begin with)
- isn't as pricey as apple
- fits nicely in my hand (don't wanna struggle with reaching my thumb to the other side of the phone)
- looks pretty (i'm a designer, this is important)
- useable under AT&T/Verizon
