Odd question about demonlishing?

If I were to make a second character and demonlish the mayors home would that second character become mayor?

If you demolish the mayor's home I think it restarts the town? Not completely sure though, I've never demolished my mayor's house before

Whenever i pulled up demolish home when i did villager reset it displayed my mayor as an option... And I don't want to reset the town

You can't demolish the mayor's house, Isabelle will tell you to pick the re-create town option if you wont to get rid of the mayor's house. Therefore, you cannot make the 2nd charatcer mayor because once you get rid of the mayor the town is gone.
