okay oh god this is probably going to be a confusing question

I thought moving villagers could squish items, flowers, trees and patterns and paid no attention when placing their house except for the case of public projects?

That's what i thought too... Sounds like it wouldn't really work but I never tried. .-. No one is moving right now or moving in...

Man, if this actually works, it would be amazing. I really want a house in one spot that a house has never been built, but once that plot is taken, there won't be anymore room for me to place an alternate character's house without destroying things and having to replace plants and paths. If it's a guarantee, I'll place 100 bells everywhere I don't want a house over the next few days.

Wow that's a little strange. Bells in the bag, coins, or both?
I did not put any bagged bells on the ground, but the coins showed up at the police station.

It seems like there's still some unknown variables.. people who are willing to TT for testing reasons might help, cus I couldn't get it to really work for me, at least not the spot I chose. Perhaps it simply changes the -likelihood- of places the house will go...

I wish someone could really test this.

I'm at 10 villagers and struggeling to make someone move first......

So a house definitely was built in a place where you left coins then? I'd say that means it doesn't work then, and anytime it "works" is just luck like most things seem to be (like when i've reset for a move-in and the first try has had the house where I wanted it -- it can happen).

I wish it DID work though!

Yeah... anything crushed will go into the Lost and Found. Even if it was crushed before you built one (with the exception of fruit on trees--fruit on the ground will though, flowers seem to vary (I've had some appear), and trees and bushes will not show up).

But yeah, only public works really save a spot as a villager's house has to be 2 spaces away from them.

If placing an item saved a spot for anyone in the past, it was just luck to be honest.
